" I mean, if they gave single-target melee attacks a way to deal strictly higher damage than ranged builds get via the continued methods of pseudo-"shotgunning" (overlapping explosions, lightning arrow, tornado shot), then I think people could agree that it was more balanced. Like, a heavy strike character using a high-damage unique like Marohi and using a gem slot for melee splash should be oneshotting a rare monster and its entire pack, in exchange for having to go into melee range at all. Whereas, lightning arrow builds can oneshot any pack already in one crit volley *without* having to go into melee range. And melee builds, even CoC dischargers (who should certainly not be the gold standard for melee--a real melee build uses a melee attack for primary damage), take a nontrivial amount of time to kill uber atziri's split phase while standing right on top of her, therefore experiencing the full danger of her flameblasts and lightning. On the contrary, a crit poison reach build can lay 3 barrage traps and just run around for approximately 1 second while uber atziri's split phase dies pathetically. Cyclone was cool skill but GGG decided to nerf it so only EQ would be viable lol.

i remember when i played dual strike claw without melee splash at around lvl 50-60 and was proud of my 4k dps.. times sure have changed.

Melee is not dead, untill u play one of the OP builds.

Or we can take everybody's favorite bladefall mines if we are going all in on the budget..... ez x100 damage of any melee build. PoE is a ranged game and I applaud any sucker that tries to go melee rout like a good caveman he is. If u have a problem - hit it with a stick! -Forever Casual-
