About nvidia driver on a old desktop

What is the recommended version for the nvidia driver to be able to play PoE on a desktop computer with about 4 years?

The last driver version (the currently released driver - 368.81) or some other specific version for performance reasons, etc. ?

Thanks in advance.

i think i never updated my nvidia driver for over 2 years.

"never change a running system" is as important as "never run a changing system" and poe hasn't changed in a way that required an update

tl;dr: try with your old driver and update if it doesn't work.

As vio mentioned, you don't need to update the driver if everything is working and you're happy with performance.

That said, if you do want to try a new driver you can always rollback to a previous version, so just get the latest "stable" driver from NVIDIA (not a beta driver). Make sure your GPU is on the supported list for that specific driver version.

Driver updates usually fix both performance and reliability issues.

So I installed the latest version (368.81 before I was using 314.22). Note: I install only the driver section, nothing more.

Regardless of the work required in the installation and optimization I believe have achieved a noticeable improvement in performance, nothing fantastic but noticeable. So far, it has been worth it.

Thank you.

you're welcome.

the recommendation to always install the newest driver is a valid one if you play games from big ass publishers who got so powerful that nvidia and amd integrate customized fixes for their games into the drivers (or nvidia showes money into their backs so they feel like fixin their stuff). also if games use other popular game engines (like the cryengine) they also regularily get supported by dmd/nvidia.

poe with it's own engine only profits from bug fixes regarding standard directX 9 features which should be few given the maturity of this release. so it's quite independent of the driver version.
