SRS Question

I am playing my first SRS person. Pretty neat.

SRS + SB rules.

I am sad that I wont have this guy to map level before Prophesy is rudely snatched from my greedy fingers.

To the point of my current question :

SRS, is a Spell/Minion with the keyword "FIRE."

Why does the tooltip both on my totem and on my cast version BOTH list it as doing ELECTRICAL damage - only?

Is there a way to get my little lovely balls of hungry fire to get a crit chance?

They do have a crit chance. Just like all monsters and minions the default crit chance is 5%.

The spell you cast to summon them (or place a totem) doesn't deal damage, so that's why the tooltip is not displaying the damage accurately. I don't know why it is showing as doing some lightning damage; maybe you have a wand which adds lightning damage to spells, or herald of thunder, and the tooltip is a bit buggy?
In any case, the spell won't actually deal any damage, and it has no crit chance. Only the minions themselves deal damage.

SRS minions do physical damage, and have 50% of that converted to fire. They don't do any lightning damage by default.

There are exactly two ways to affect your Minions.

1. A bonus labeled as Minion.
2. Support Gems which apply to stats that a Minion has, linked to the Minion gem.

So like dudio said, your SRS already have crit chance, but through the 2nd way, you can make them crit more often with an Increased Critical Strikes Support gem. If you curse enemies with Assassin's Mark, your SRS will also crit more often (because the enemy gets the "to be critted" stats, which will boost anything that Hits the enemy).

Sadly you probably won't see any/most of this in the tooltip, but you should be able to trust that the boosts are happening. A little letter with blue background should show up on your Skill icon for SRS, which indicated a Support is applying to a Skill. (Take care when using this info with other Skills, as applying a multiplier to a value of 0 still counts as applying).

Also bonuses that increase skill gem levels.

I do use Herald of Thunder, however the tooltip still posts lightning damage when it is off.

No doubt from another source.

I hope GGG can take the feedback that it would be very helpful to have specifics on minions (of any type).

Back to crit for a moment.

Would a global + crit help them?

How about the keystones re shields and minions or sharing charges?

If they do fire damage and crit should I not see an occasional ignite? With the SB off I do not ever see anything on fire. Or are elemental effects suppressed for minions? Be nice to add some extra burn damage or cold/hypothermia.

Despite its name, global crit won't help your minions, no. It's just 'global' for you, not your allies too!

As well as the sources adghar mentioned, you can use 'necromantic aegis' to give them a shield that would helps with crit. Most of them don't help that much though, I think.

You can't share charges with minions using conduit, since they're not your 'party members' (those are other players in your party). However, there are shields that can help your minions generate power charges. for eg:



The victario's influence one grants power charges to 'allies', not 'party members', so it works fine.

You could also use assassin's mark to give you minions some power charges, but this isn't very reliable, especially for temporary minions like SRS.

Each power charge gives your minions +100% crit chance. So if their default crit chance is 5, 3 charges will give them 15% additional chance to crit. With inc. crit strikes, this number will be higher.
