[2.3] Tornado Short Deadeye Ranger (RoTC) build [<5 exalt]

Hi Exiles,

I am new to the game, but did try quite a few different TS Deadeye builds. I am trying to share some of my thoughts on the 2.3 Tornado Short Deadeye Ranger build with low budget for new players. If I am wrong, feel free yo drop your comments. Questions and criticisms are welcome.

Long story short,
Here are my current gears:
Spoiler

Note: I am using HOA+HOI+Arctic Armor + MS (high lvl selfcast) + lightning coil for defensive mapping. For even safer mapping, I will replace the AM with Enfeeble.

Here is my passive:

Pros:
1. cheap <5 exalts, for new players.
2. fast clear speed with .
3. 3 aura with more options, and safer with the additional Arctic Armour aura and CWDT+IC+MS.

Cons:
1. single target DPS with RoTC is a little low. But still > 330dps.

here are some differences from typical TS Deadeye build.
1. I use Reach of the Council. This bow is really good in the Prophecy. For max roll, it has ~370dp with built in GMP with NO damage penalty!!! However it does have low crit strike chance base (6%). But if you replace the GMP with the increased crit srike gem (+1.9% crit srike chance and 108% increased crit strike chance 20q), with simple math that is equivalent to 500dps bow with ~8% crit chance, with only 3.5 exalts on poe.trade (Mine is 333.7 dps, equivalent to 450 dps).
Also, you certainly can replace the GMP with other support gems if you prioritize them over the ICS, but ICS is highly recommended when using RoTC. For this build, you can use Harbinger as well, just replace ICS with GMP or LMP.

2. Skill tree difference. I do not add frenzy charge nodes, which can save me 6 passive points. I use them for taking the Charisma nodes (5 points, 12% reduced mana reservation, and 6% increased non-curse aura effect). That will give me 3 auras instead of 2, with total of 88% mana reservation. Reason being the frenzy charges are based on kills. they are almost useless against final bosses with no minions, and that is when you really need them. For normal mapping, with only 3 frenzy, 3 power, 3 endurance, I have ~50K TS DPS on a 5L Daresso without flasks, on a rare 6L armor, it can reach 75k. And I can easily clear high tier normal mobs. Later on if you can get Enlighten lvl 4, then you can reimburse those points and put it wherever you need.

I am currently using HOI, Hatred, and Arctic Armour (13% physical reduction, 12% fire damage reduction). I have a mana pool of ~700, and I still have ~85 mana left to cast all the spells needed. And this way I feel it is more safe. In case you want more damage, you can replace Arctic Armour with HOA for faster clear and massive AOE. Or you can run hatred with grace as well for more evasion.

Another difference on the passive tree is I am taking Arrow Dancing, because I am a ranged char, and projectiles and spells are the majority of the damage, it also helps reflect mobs, because the reflection is from your projectile. When coming to the death or live situation of big meel physical damage, I am using CWDT + IC + Molten shell. It seem worked very well, which I will cover next.

Also I will only take one 0.4% life leech + 0.4 life and mana leech nodes at the vitality void wheel, instead of two 0.4% life leech + one 0.8% life leech + one 0.4 mana leech to save 2 points, since asyour gear gets refined, 0.4% leech is quite enough plus some intrinsic regen from your char.

3. links: Safety is the most important thing for POE IMO.
Defense
CWDT + IC + Molten shell + Increased Duration

My understanding of how this works is:
Keep the CWDT at low level(lvl8), IC(lvl10), MS (lvl14) when damage comes, it will proc CWDT first. If the damage is high enough to trigger IC, then IC goes off consuming all endurance charges and last longer. Then molten shell triggers, and allows you to absorb 600 (MS lvl14) damage in 16(20lvl 20q ID)s. If the damage is not enought to trigger IC, then MS goes off, allow you to absorb 600 (MS lvl14) damage in 16s (20lvl 20q ID). Now something interesting will happen if using Daresso, when the damage is not enough to trigger IC, then you loss all your endurance charge because of the Daresso mechanism, and go onslaught, and then the Molten shell will still trigger and now you can absorb up to 600 (MS lvl14) damage in the next 16s (20lvl 20q ID). If the damage is high enough to trigger IC, with Daresso, the endurance charge will be consumed by IC and you do not go onslaught.

Question is how does molten shell help in this defensive mechanism? Let's say, you take a big physical, the IC will block it, if the next big physical comes within 10s, you reduce that by 600 because of Molten shell. Now this is interesting, because according to GGG, the 600 damage absorption is any physical damage that is negated by armour (including armour gained via Granite Flask and Molten Shell itself), blocking, by the skill Immortal Call(!!!), or by the skill Arctic Armour. This means any damage blocked by IC will not be counted to the 600 molten shell damage absorption, meaning the molten shell will still be active after IC for 10s! And this damage absorption is after Armour effect. For instance, my current LVL 87 ranger has 7% damage reduction from its Armour, and an additional 13% reduction from Arctic Armour. When a 10000 damage comes, IC will block it, if a second 10000 damage comes within 10s, my amour will block 20%, then 8000 left, the molten shell with then take off 600, now only 7400 left. If you have lightning coil (30% physical to lightning, which is after amour as well), that is another 22.5% reduction, and you now only take 5735 damage. That could well be death vs live.
Also, the skills gems triggered based on their location in the link (CWDT does not), so it is better to have IC before MS, since the damage absorption is after Armour effect, if MS is before IC, any damage coming between MS and IC will count towards the 1500 absorption. However this difference usually barely noticed.

unfortunately, we could not keep the MS at high levels to block higher physical and fire damage because of the lvl requirements from the low level CWDT. However, you can have a separate MS at 20lvl 20q. Put it with another 4L, like ID+MS+Empower+BloodRage.

Offense:
TS+FA+PPAD+ICS+AF(5L)+ICD(6L), for phy reflection, LA+FA+LMP+AF+ICD, for ele reflection, TS+FA+PPAD+ICS+LL+ICD, also replace hatred with Grace, and don't forget turn off HOI.
Pucture+FA+ICS+PPAD(4L) (the TS damage is high enough for boss, this is not needed, and can replace with a 2nd defensive setup).
HOI+COH+AM (Enfeeble) + Hatred (I use COH+AM to generate power charges, use daresso to generate endurance charges, use blood rage to generate frenzy charges)
ICD+HOA+Vaal Haste+Vaal Grace

Also, I highly recommend using phase run along with HOI + HOA + Hatred for insane fast speed + insane clear speed mapping. the 20q Phase run increase speed by 45%. with 3 frenzy charge and increased duration, it last 8sec, if you pop up the quicksilver flasks, then your speed will be boosted by 85%!!!. For instance, farming Dried Lake, you get in, cast Blood rage (+speed + frenzy), cast phase run, pop up quicksilver flasks, go hit the first pack of mods, which will give you 3 frenzy charge and full quicksilver flasks. Then cast phase run and pop flasks again, you will be able to run to the end of the map within 10sec!!! If Voll is there. Then take 2 sec to delete Voll. So within about 20-30 seconds you can run Voll.

4. Ascendancy:
I am currently getting Fast and Deadly + Far shot + Endless Munition. I am struggling on getting powerful precision vs rupture with my addition 2 ascendancy points, the new rupture looks really good when going with puncture, piercing and point blank, so I may reimburse the endless munition and get both powerful precision and rupture.

Some other tips:
1. Lioneye Glare is a very nice bow for leveling before you get the RoTC or Harbinger. Though it will oneshot you at some point because of the "Hits can't be evaded".
2. For Labs, if you have a very slow PC, I will change this to Ballista build with no need to change any passive point, and use this bow

and this

It will get you at least 3 Ballista totems. Maybe 4 if you have high enough dex. Then you just kitening and run around the room place the Ballistas whenever you get a chance, and they will clear up the minions quickly, which are the main reason making your PC slow and it will also get you flasks charges, most importantly it also kills Izaro, sooner or later. I once played with my old laptop, and died many times running the merciless lab with TS and frenzing arrow because the low fps, then I found the youtube video, one guy at LVL55 ranger is doing it with Ballista (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4qBL9P3VHU). Then I quickly bought the bow, and passed it in the first try, but did take a few minutes in the boss room.
3. Get as much life as you can from your gears, and cap your resistance first before going super glass cannon. For the rest of the tree, I am think invest most of my points into life, I am now around 4000 HP without any life socket jewels. Seems a little low.

Bro -

How can you possibly ignore Powerful Precision with your Drillneck / crit nodes? So much synergy. And a Pierce gem. It's what I'm doing with Tornado shot. I didn't read full post maybe you have a reason

Hmm. Your build is ok for new players on SC, but it could be much better it's my tornadoshot tree :

http://poeplanner.com/AAQAANkiGwBqm40ILu2DGY4AXtN-fXX-urvjxKKn1P7IoaTh2wYjexSXBgX5myYyAbIZz3ph63pT6NYFtcLsKluCXlLsjb_UIzBx3ahLeDpCUUe0xWKsbIydqjY962MRL7VI1EKEb3X9Fr8mlWHiVUuMNl3yKgtwUonT73r8xXjrCpvnCg2NW6-HduOfSn1noCF2hs7BM04qI9NvJ5pq4J8FZkz_QzHawXTtBS16741-zZjqYnXLvqdlTb02R34wfI19I_ZNkn8rOdSgn3b3MfoT2rEBcUNl02lOU88AAAAAAA==

On essence league i had over 5k hp, 40-45 k dps, it was amazing clear speed, but sometimes reflect can make myocardial infarction, so atziri is unplayable on this skill. This build can reach 90 lvl with good gear. In te future i will try show my build here with gear and other, but I still need to testing it
a few times before that .

Ps: If somebody try and end my tree in game at next I recomented take frenzy charges or jew. sockets
