Spirit offering's not very important at all. There's a bit of utility about destroy corpses (with any of the offerings) that makes gameplay a bit nicer. Some examples are: Academy boss's tornadoes disappear after his corpse is destroyed but not after he dies. Same with Crematorium boss's fire storm. Ever run into those sparking skeletons that got buffed? Destroying their corpses removes the sparks. Same with that exile that sparks.
