Diablo 3 - System revisions & Blue post discussion

This threads purpose is to discuss the games system revisions. You're welcome to state your opinion and make comparisons but flamebait such as 'My X game is better than your Y game' is not

..and this probably should have been put in the Off Topic section

"
1)Scrolls of Identification are gone - players can now identify rares/legendary items without them.

2)Button '5' is now dedicated to potions.

3)The Mystic artisan has now been removed from the game.

4)The Cauldron of Jordan and Nephalem have been removed.

5)The Stone of Recall is now a button at the bottom and has been renamed "Town Portal".

6)The Blacksmith is now responsible for salvaging players' items.

7)Common (white colored) items are no longer salvageable.

8)Character Attributes have been changed. See below for details.

9)Character stats are now placed in the same place as the inventory panel and the old dedicated stats panel has been removed.

No longer being able salvage items yourself kinda sucks, no longer will you have to worry about white items on the ground. Lets face it, if you didn't have a macro that placed items in the cube and salvaged them for you it would get pretty tiresome and I'm aware it's totally optional but it's also totally potential lost revenue.

Now the mystic removed from the game...
"
The mystic's primary function is to enchant items, adding magical bonuses to them. She was initially said to craft spell-caster items such as wands and staves, but all item creation seems to have been passed to the Blacksmith. Here's a quote from her original description, taken from the Caravan FAQ in August 2010.

"
The mystic creates scrolls, potions, magical weapons, spell runes, and charms, and can also enchant items. The full list of Formulas she will apply.

She's lost the ability to create scrolls or potions, she no longer crafts weapons or runes, and charms are out of the game. What does does is identify weapons, but primarily she enchants weapons, armor, and jewelery.

Andrew Chambers: You specify the item you want, then you choose the enhancement you want, and that enhancement actually has a range. So say the plus experience might be 10 to 20 percent: when she applies it you might get +15% experience. You can reapply that and you’ll have a change of getting +16% or +17% experience, but it will never go beneath the current enhancement and you've always got a chance to improve to the maximum possible value.

Well crap I was looking forward to that, I hope enchanting comes back in some form or another
"
Enhancement was really just the socket and gem system with a different name, and it would prolong the release of the game even further to go back to the drawing board and differentiate it, so we’ll revisit the Mystic and enhancements at a later time.

I'll agree it was a system with a different name but not having to farm gems to get them would have been nice (unsocketing costs too)

I have not been paying that much attention to D3 atm. But i must say some changes feel kinda , strange , to say the least. And drastic.

Is it just me or is Blizzad doing radicle changes allot ? Iv never seen Blizzard change so much so often.

Then again , as i statet. I have not been tracking the game to good. So maybe there is a logical explination to it.
Cant have to much Junk in your Stash
Games dumbed down with the stat changes. Its horrible. They said D2 had a bad system with stats so they made them auto assign and now they pigeonhole each class based on stats. I dont even think I want to play d3 anymore.
It seems they are making the game even more simple every patch they release and with this decrease in difficulty and customization, my want to play it also decreases.

I've noticed it too. Blizzard is still changing and cutting big parts of the game very close to release. Remember that they need to ship the final game to manufacturers at least a month before its release date. Granted because D3 is online only they can rely on patches to continue to add or change content but the fact that so much is still up in the air seems uncharacteristic for Blizzard. I don't think it bodes well for the game.

I approve of the ID&TP removals. It allows for a faster pace and more gaming.
I will buy a copy of d3 so i can use it as a coaster..anything other then that not so much
Strange changes... really strange.
They are making the game simple. So simple the only thing you are going to do is point with your mouse and hack and slash. Face it, the world is getting dumber by the minute. They want more paid customers. Why complicate? I bet in the end, Diablo 1 will be more fun to play than Diablo 3.
