Blind support
|
At the moment Blind support gem is useless.
Is it on purpose that a gem that could be so good for saboteur, for instance, is actually so ineffective? Seriously, 10% chance to blind is way too low, and duration doesn't matter really. How many builds around there would lose a gem slot to use Blind support as it is nowadays... I'm not an expert, but I've playing POE for nearly 3 years now and I never understood why there's gems so ridiculosly underpowered that nobobody would use them whatsoever... Saboteur is the last class that would want to use Blind as a support since he gets it for free anyway.
As for the gem, it's best used in a defensive/automated setup. For example: - Level 1 CWDT + Ball Lightning + GMP + Blind - Tempest Shield + Chain + Blind or Reckoning + Blind on a block build - Linked to a minion - etc Blind as a debuff is actually very powerful. I just did my first uber lab on my Saboteur yesterday, and a blind uber Argus is simply adorable. Of course, there's little reason to blind enemies when you can just oneshot them instead, so in the current meta it's not very useful. But the same goes for just about half of all support gems and most curses. Give it a few months, I'm sure GGG will add 30% more damage to it and it'll be back in the game. |

The gem is pretty underpowered, especially now that we have stibnite flask. If the chance was higher and it offered some other bonuses, it would be nice to try with Maloney's Nightfall or something of the sort.

" Saboteur is a trapper, so blind on hit doesn't work at all unless you have a cwdt setup, which is not really effective when you actually have to get hit to make it work. I'm not saying that it need a more multiplier, that would be stupid, I'm just saying that blind support as it is (for the saboteur in particular) is uneffective. |

Agreed, it could definitely use a tuneup. Right now Saboteur's blind notable gives a 25% chance to blind on hit (plus the chance to create a smoke cloud when hit and immunity to blind). Considering many ascendancies give watered-down versions of support gems to everything (like Slayer's splash, Elementalalist's prolif, Deadeye's chain), it seems odd that Saboteur's is so much stronger than the support itself, and yet it doesn't feel overpowered on Sab. If that's the case... doesn't that kinda scream that the gem itself needs a boost to be worth using?
I guess the concern would be that players would do something like link Skeletotems or HoT or a Golem or OOS to blind without drawing much power from their core skills or setups, but... idk, i don't think that's that big of an issue with some of the other crazy defenses available. Though I guess tacking blind into the mix (without having to give up another flask like you do by using Stibnites) does add another layer even to those crazy defenses without much opportunity cost. " Um, that's not true. Traps apply the blind, as do mines (or totems, or pretty much anything that isn't a minion), at least as long as they involved a 'hit' event. Sab's blind node is very effective, actually. Last edited by Shppy#6163 on Jul 6, 2016, 7:53:39 PM

" I'm actually using Maloney's on my setup, but still blind support is barely useful. Smoke cloud is nice as a "defense layer", but to trigger it you must take damage. If blind support had a higher chance to debuff enemies -without any other bonus-, that would be, in my opinion, the best balance it could have. Just think about it... Armour-fortify, evasion-blind. Is it not fair enough? |

" This is not true. Blind on hit (just like all other on hit effects) works with traps. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

" Where did you get that from? As far as I'm concerned, neither traps/mines nor totems apply players "on hit" mods. Blinding assault is a player modifier. I'm pretty sure it doesn't applies to minion or traps... correct me if I'm wrong. |
|
" So, how is that curse on hit doesm't work with traps? |
|
" Even if it does proc, it would do nothing since they can't actually apply the curses. Those are your skills. They can only use the skill that you cast to summon them. Blind works fine though. Traps can apply effects like blind, stun, hinder, ignite, etc... since they aren't your skills.
