Install on a second drive
I have two hard drives, neither is an SSD. I've heard that one can get better performance by installing POE on a drive that doesn't have the OS. I just tried and it didn't seem to install in the directory I created for it on my second drive. Do I need to uninstall first? Is there a special process to install in a location that is not default?

Hrrrm, there shouldn't be. At one point I had it on 2 different drives as well. I actually have it on 3 atm because i'm lazy like that. Anyway, when you double click the POE installer, hit options, then point it to where you want it to install. If that's what you did...browse your HD and check to see if is indeed there.
If it isn't, try reinstalling it again. Also, make sure and update the desktop icon as well. Right click on the icon, click properties, and make sure the Target line is pointing to whichever install you want it to. " I did this but for some reason the installer only gives me the options to repair or uninstall. Wolf I'll take "Swords" for two hundred Alex.

Choose Uninstall then and then re-install to the second drive.
Alternative is to actually just copy the PathOfExile.exe over to where you want Path of Exile actually installed to, and run it from there. Create a new shortcut by right-clicking the PathOfExile.exe and selecting "Create Shortcut". When you run PoE, it will patch into the location it was run from. You don't technically need the installer other than to get you the original PathOfExile.exe as well as the redist frameworks for DirectX and such. |

I have Windows 10.
The installer originally did not give me an option of install drive so I assumed it would somewhere in the install sequence and it did not but used the system drive. I restarted the installer using Administrator privilege. It did give me a choice to uninstall so I did uninstall. The Administrator privilege gave me drive choice to install it on so I was able to select my huge capacity F drive I use for all my applications. I came upon the Administrator idea from a Windows 7 thread in these same forums. Last edited by S8G62jsa6#2257 on Jun 25, 2016, 11:40:13 PM
