I used to think leveling past 90 was nuts. Then I hit 97 on my Scion. Like 1% on rolled T15s. Okay GGG. 100 T15s (like they grow on trees) @ ~8 mins clear time. 800 mins = 13:20 hours. That's like a job for two weeks. That's only to level 98. 99 is like 15% of all the EXP you've gotten (so from level 1-97). And a steeper penalty of course.
Then from 99 to 100? Same deal, even steeper penality. So after like 60 hours of gaming, you go from 97 to 100. Okay. If you die, that's a few hours lost, some big loot lost and thank you come again. So run some 600 T15s but don't die!
There aren't even 900 people in this game (unless some players have had their heroes or accounts removed) that have hit 100.
If GGG wants to make it impossible (which it already almost is), then so be it. Just make it so you actually lose XP after level 95 when you hit things. Ok done. GG! kappa
They also recently nerfed the magic mobs that spawn from chests, remember when there used to be 3? Now only one. So don't forget it was harder before this nerf too. Yup.
Level 100 IS suppose to be nearly impossible to get , just like it was in diablo 2 !!!
This has been the idea from day 1 , GGG makes these changes to slow down the top tier players , not a bad thing since they are god like at this game anyways and will just find a new way to get to their goal anyways .
level 90 has always been the "soft cap" in my opinion , if you play this game WAAAAYYYYYY to much + are skilled at it + are commited to being in the very top tier of players , then GGG give you a proper challange , something other games based around grinding loot forget to do ( im looking at you the division , you hit level 100 in 3 weeks in that game , the best of the best hit it in 1 week legit , then WTF do you do ? )

Is is possible to find a middle ground though? The challenge is at trying to get lvl100 and at high level maps, i agree, but if you are not one of those people then the game is too easy. Can we increase the challenge for like 80-90 without diminishing the xp gains? That way even the people that don't play much will have a challenge to overcome. As it stands right now it's easy progression until t7 maps, then a huge roadblock on map drops for maps that aren't even that hard and then an even bigger one for red maps. So there is nothing to challenge players except for map drops pre-red maps.
tl;dr make non-red maps harder

It's not 0.1%, it's something like 0.001% actually. I was in the 0.1% when they released prophecy statistics in the first week and I'm light years behind the players GGG are smartly basing their balance decisions on. I was, what, level 88-ish at the time? There were players in their nineties in the ladder. Getting 90 to 93 probably takes longer than 1 to 88, especially this league.
Eh, not really. The nerf to exp was substantial, ive certainly noticed it, but theres also the fact that Maps are easier to get now.
The biggest reason why leveling is slower is because its not Perandus League. I said this before in another thread a while back but Perandus League hyper-accelerated the gearing process. I was decked out and hit level 90 in one week barely playing the league, my second character was decked out in a week and i hit 96 on him.
Everything is much harder to get this league and theres no league only items readily available that are massively broken like Headhunter (which people quite literally got on day 1 of perandus league).
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Nope, it's not that. I was geared and ready to do anything at day four or five, bought maps for 2 exalts and still couldn't get my map pool above a tier 10 base. Tried everything - rolling masive pack size, alch and go, alteration rolling for pack size, nada. I got two lucky early six-links (a total of around 400 fusings for both) which boosted my bank and I was able to buy basically whatever I needed - there was just no content to run. And tier 10s feel like tier 8-9 before when you're 90 or more.
That feeling when a 40% pack size Shipyard drops no maps - it has happened more often than I'd like.
You have to be realistic about these things.

Lmao. Godlike at this game? Ok. How do you get godlike at a game where it's just a mad dash to zip around and kill things. What pro skills does a player need in this game? Lol
Also how is running the same 2-3 maps ten thousand times a challenge? Their whole gaming model is so broken if all there is to do is soft cap at 90 and reroll. Or spend all your currency on red maps so you can spam them hoping to reach 100. Like you build a hero but have literally nothing to do with it after a point. Red maps are not readily sustainable. Leveling takes so long that regular people will never hit 100. Ok.
Also lol at what to do if you're hero hits 100. You do the same thing as you would do if it's 90. People will lose interest if they can't get 100 just as fast as if they hit it in a reasonable time anyway. If hitting 100 is all this game has then I don't even know...

I disagree with yha sir
- People who mad dash around the map killing everything with 100 % safety on the way to level 100 ususaly made the build themselfs , you know the OP cookie cuter hipster builds that are totaly OP , well some 1 sat down broke the mechanics of the game down to thare bare minimum , then re built a character around them that is totaly OP . Also they somehow obtained the gear nessasary to run this build , ususaly many many ex worth .
-red maps are not suppose to be sustained , regular folks are not supose to get to level 100. End of story. They WANT you to make a mistake the 200th time you run the same map , PoE is a game of many variables , if you fall aslep at the wheel you end up dead .
I find it funny how most people say "game is e-z" then in the same paragraph say " getting to level 100 is imposible " ? ? ? It's ether easy or impossible not fucking BOTH !!!!
-I feel you are missing the point hear , people losse intrest in a loot based game WHEN they hit max level/max gear , OR hit many many houres played regardless of how farm in the progression system they made it . having a "soft cap" of 90 just means that you have hit the end of the game . At least GGG lets you do something after you hit the soft cap other than re-roll thx fuck .
Also i want to point out that most people who say
"game is E-z"
" I hit level 90 in 4 days and am now board game is broken "
" i can clear all content with 100 % saftey no problem "
These are people who always have a shit load of suporter tags or have thousands of houres into the game . You are really good at the game , you understand the core mechanics . You have built MANY characters , you understand what makes good gear and what dose not for your character.
These are not things people say the first time they play PoE. no in fact the first like 20-75 houres of this game is ususaly VERY difficult for most folks .
Rant mode engaged :
Iv been noticing this trend more and more in game forums lately ware people who have put hundreds sometimes thousands of hours into a game then totally rage on the game for having " no content " or " simple , easy dumbed down for new players " it's not the games fault you played it so much you know every crack on the stone walk way to town better than you know you wife's face . It's not the game fault that you have done it's content SOOOoooo much that it has become totaly boring to you and you can find no challenge left in it's gameplay.
WTF makes people think that ANY game has a self life of forever . Games end . At some point you have done all you can do and are board . MOVE ON . Play a different game FFS . wait for substantial content updates before you come back , or hell don't come back at all.
The only game i know of that has a self life of forever is EvE online , and no other game is structured in the way EvE is . That game is set up for PvP with HUGE/insane/massive risk for the player no matter how much they play , the more they play the greater the risk in combat . Plus EvE STILL makes people get board and quit even with a 100 % open end PvP gameplay .
You could not pay me enough money to play any more CS GO it's boring to me now , that's what 2100 hours of a game will do . Is CS GO a bad game ? hell no it's a fantastic game , iv just played it to death .
Thares a BIG diffrence in a game not having anything to do , and a game that you have put 1000 + hours into and are now burnt out on .

Because nolifers could burn thru a character and hit 100 in 500 hours... so in order to make this game seem more vast and has more content we extend the leveling time from 500 hours to 5000 hours is not exactly "making the game better".
People these days has very weird idea about "contents" and "endless grind"... and some people in this game probably don't even have the ability to tell the difference between the two... very sad indeed.
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.
Welcome to PoE.
