If i have two of the same MT effect (i have two of the same boots fx) is there any way of trading it or am i stuck with it?

You're stuck with it (at least as far as we know so far).
Best use is to put it on different characters. Use it on ones you don't want to accidentally delete. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:
