Three Dragons Plus Vortex?

Just wondering if anyone has tested the new skill vortex with the unique three dragons that turns cold skills freeze into ignite.

What I was really wondering is how does it work with the cold degeneration part if at all?

My guess is that the degeneration wouldn't apply any type of ignite right?

DoTs don't hit, so they can't apply status ailments.
They also can't be converted.
