Grand spectrum ele Jewel build - opinions?
Err no, that image shows you the range of damage that Flameblast has from lvl 1 to lvl 20. A lvl 20 flameblast does between 241 and 362 damage, for an 301.5 average not charged.

well actually the absolute best thing to use with this is herald of ash, because of the way it scales.
at max level herald of ash burn is 137% of overkill damage. this is the base, and thus any additional modifier is 137+xx% = herald of ash also scales with fire damage, burning damage, dot damage, area damage, damage, and elemental damage. so with 980% elemental damage, your overkill burn damage would actually be 1480%. better yet is you use this with a chin sol, point blank, and burning arrow with the new blackgleam quiver. 100% phys to fire conversion. add a bunch of other support gems like added fire, WED, etc. this will give you a very hefty single target damage skill (for the highest overkill damage you can get) which will then become insane overkill damage. i've already done a build like this back in 1.2 or 1.3, i forget, and it was insane. approximately 1.5 million aoe dps, but that was back before elemental proliferation was nerfed. now its rebuffed a bit, so it should be a bit easier. run your herald of ash on a 5 or 6 link, with inc aoe, conc effect (59% more damage), inc burning damage (69% increase), proliferation, and enlighten for 6L or something. i had an assassin build lined up to try this out with critical strikes and calculated an approximation of 7-10 million DPS, depending just how high i could get my single target damage. and that was before these jewels were introduced. i'll probably revisit that build if i get some of these jewels and end up making that build again. |

Writhing jar seems like a pretty good flask to use to max out your overkill damage.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Just pulled this from a random enemy, not sure whether to use it or sell it for an exalt

" Using it is a slippery slope. Unless it goes legacy (after already being nerfed pre-introduction), the price should only go down from now on. If you use it, you're basically dedicating yourself to getting 10 to 14 of them and using all of them, which right now would cost... 9 to 13 additional exalts. And that's in Prophecy; for now it's even more in Standard. I'd recommend selling it for now. Last edited by codetaku#0468 on Jun 13, 2016, 4:35:55 PM

Has anyone tried this yet with IB?
Does that even make sense? Zaanus:
Global chat: Mechanics for A work one way, B for another, C for a third but also with A, B uses C but not A, and D uses A&B but not C ___ Isn't a "no" better than an ignore? |

IB, being melee, really wants its jewel slots to be used for survivability in addition to damage. Jewel slots are very valuable, and in order to take 14 slots you won't be able to take a *ton* of life (which you really need for melee)
This'd be much better with a voltaxic sparker or OP's pizzablast suggestion. Last edited by codetaku#0468 on Jun 13, 2016, 5:21:14 PM

True.
Just figured it'd be a really sweet explosion. Alternatively, you could use Quecholli with a spell, given the damage is there anyways. Or would that be sourced on the item and net get the bonus? Hmmm, for melee, if you get just 12 jewel slots, you could go 6 armour, 6 ele and still get enough damage for a single explosion to one-shot everything but uniques, while getting 5.4k armour before passives. But eh, not really worth the risk, true. Zaanus:

Gotta say, the jewel is pretty broken. In my boredom, I made a 13 jewel tree, along with a whopping 220% life. Assuming you're using spells, you get 900% increased damage for an elemental spell. All that and it's only level 90. I don't understand how something of that caliber can exist in the game
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.
