Dagger, Dual Strike and Crit - New Player LF Strategy Advice
I am a new player looking to build a dagger, dual strike, crit and evasion character. I am following a guide for the passive tree but was looking for someone to help me boil down what essential stats I should be looking for, seeing as I am not buying any of the BiS gear referenced. I know my way around the game generally and have lots of diablo 2/3 experience.
The skills I have relied on so far are Dual Strike (obviously) for single targets and rares, frost blades for main aoe/cc, assassin curse for sustain/mitigation, viper strike for leach on bosses, whirling blades for engage/movement, and herald of thunder for free clean up. I am level 35 and near end of Act III, generally very easy thus far. I am looking for advice some basic advice for ways to augment my skills to make sure I can progress without the BiS gear. Useful tips would be like - always get 20% movement on boots, specific affix's that are unique to an item slot I should be aware of. It's difficult to improvise on the gear/skills since there are just so many items and skill combos that I'm not sure if I need to make different decisions to offset not having any core pieces. Links to other reliable guides for this play style would be helpful too. Thanks! The most important thing to remember in POE is that tankiness is more important than damage. You always want to have a life roll and as much resistance as possible on all of your armor pieces. Once you have capped resistance (75%) for all three elemental resists and a life roll on every piece, you can start to look for other stats. Excluding unique items, you're generally going to look for a really high evasion chest piece/shield, boots with movement speed, rings with weapon elemental damage and crit chance, gloves and helmets with high evasion, and a belt with all three elemental resistances, life, and probably weapon elemental damage.
Amulets are unique in that they can roll almost every single stat in the game, you want to use your amulet to cover a stat that you need and are having trouble finding elsewhere on your gear (such as str/dex/int or crit multiplier) POE is a game about balancing your stats and gear, unique items almost always have a really good stat, but end up lacking in resistances, life, or other vital stats. This means that the more unique items you equip in general, the better your rare items have to be to make up for the lack of vital stats.
