30m copies would need to be sold with Blizzard making $67 per purchase for it to even get into the billions (ie 2billion plus).

We don't know if that figure includes the expansion (which has always had a lower RRP that that) and for much of it's lifetime the base game has had a much lower RRP (it is currently being sold for $20) I would suggest that figure is far lower. When you also factor in the fact that there have been a lot of physical copies sold via 3rd party stores then that reduces the profit even further.

Actually blizzard made well into the billions region easily. Especially when they had real money AH up as well as all the expansions. Most sales on the game is made when the game came out, if you think Blizzard would release Diablo 3 or any of it's expansions at a $20 price tag when they were brand new, you are clearly delusional.

You claimed that they made billions from box sales of the original game which I disproved. You are trying to insult me over the fact that I clearly stated that Diablo was selling for $20 now, at no point did I suggest it had sold for that much at release. You have zero facts about how many copies actually sold at or near launch, or whether the 30m figure includes sales of the expansion. You are basically plucking figures out of thin air to try to prove *something*, no idea what. I'm not going to argue with you any more as you are clearly a master of arguing at a certain level of intelligence and I struggle to drop down to that level.

But really stop compare D3/Poe , both of them are great games but different and really don't care about players actually played to D3/Poe , i think they are enough to make both live.

POE has 5 million players in total count.

Diablo 3 has 30 million players in total count.

But my guess is that more people play POE currently than D3.

As far as I can tell when I log into D3 there is nobody on global chat but POE has tons more.\

But then there is really noway to tell, D3 is more a console game. People bought D3 for the story etc not for it being an ARPG

Unfortunately, this will never happen because the team which made D1/D2 is gone. The remaining Blizzard guys are basically WoW kids who don't really understand what made D1/D2 so great.

There is 5 million POE accounts which is quite something.

But yes 5K is not that high for a game on steam but then this is not a beginner friendly game and it has no tutorials to speak off and terrible trading. So one must expect why it has less players its really because of GGG's motto that no new player is allowed to play POE. they like to keep it niche.

One of the ways those other games get so many more players is they sell "erotic female body armor"
Which is what generates the massive revenues in those other MMO that lacks gameplay.

Do we even know how many use steam vs stand alone to play POE? Also I'm pretty sure, most people don't play a day before a new league starts.

Devs only posted precise numbers once that I remember. At the time they said we set a new peak record of 163,000 concurrent players. That was 1 or 2 years ago. Since then they have on several occasions said we have broken the record.

The last time on steam when the new act or is it league came out?

The player numbers on steam for POE was very high like 15K and up.

And I am very sure more people play the stand alone client than steam.

Generally speaking any game that has a playerbase if 10,000 and up daily is considered very healthy. Stand alone and steam puts POE above 10K a day.

This is a lot more than D3. I know because when I log onto D3 there is maybe 1 person in Global Chat at most. I am slowly starting to prefer POE over D3.

Maybe soon I will be here saying POE is better I just wish that when you join a notice board in dry lake, everyone would have their permanent portal setup in a circle and when you click their portal you will TP directly to them instead of always having to ask "TP PLEASE"

Its very annoying, and one of the few flaws of POE. The other is lack of AH. If POE had these 2 elements I would rate this game higher than D3 and I would probably never return to D3. Atleast when D3 had trading there was a proper system in place to have it done like an AH. Now its BOA I don't like BOA but hardcore D2 nerds claim BOA is the way to go for ARPG.
