[2.3] Colwyn's Explosive Arrow Elementalist, HC viable (budget league starter)



This build has been created by me due to the elementalist reflect changes, I have not seen any other similar EA witch builds on the left side of the tree.

Build Notes:
This is a life\armour based left side of the tree explosive arrow build, it requires low cost gear and will be viable day one of 2.3.

DPS & Survivability are solid in cheap gear, clear speed is great, the ascendency has great synergy with the build.

Why Elementalist?
25% increased aoe.
Elemental proliferation.
Reduced chances to kill yourself with reflect.

Even with no ascendency the burn damage of explosive arrow is considerable, increasing the aoe of the fuse 25% almost 50% of the time and proliferating that burn will help to further clear speed.

40% increased fire damage from the golem point is also viable.
At this point I reccomend increasing the aoe so each fuse hits more targets and prolif can further extend the range of each fuse.

Update
The day 2.3 is released I will update this guide with a video of a reflect map and some images
I dont believe you will ever want to run reflect maps, but as validation that you are much less likley to rip yourself on random reflect mobs




GEAR:

Required gear:
1) 2-3 slots with mana and mana regen (ring\neck) flat mana is priority, get whatever resists you can too obviously
on a 6link EA costs 125 mana, we want to reserve a herald, sorting mana is a priority

2) Quill rain

4) Rearguard quiver
In the firt day or two, quill and rearguard may be slightly hard to get , no big deal just get a fast attack speed bow

Enchant: Damage leech on boots is the best boot enchant for this build, Explosive Arrow Radius is prob the best helm enchant

While leveling you may want to use blood magic
4link leveling EA, GMP, INC AOE, BLOOD MAGIC OR SLOWER PROJ

HoT , Curse on Hit, Warlords mark.

Note: Our ascendency ensures 20% shock, this should proc often applying warlords for leech (mostly lacking from this build otherwise) and endurance charges are always nice.

If you like feel free to replace this with blasphemy\warlords mark but it reserves more mana


4L
Immortal call (9), inc dur (max), CwDT 7, chaos golem (9)

Note: level a stone golem too, with a harder lab coming out some aditional health regen will be nice in there.

2l
Frost wall , spell echo

2l
blink arow, faster attac (or flame dash if you prefer)

1l
Elemental Weakness or flammability if you wont be playing in groups

Most Vaal aura skills are really good for this build , grace , haste etc
I reccomend Vaal Clarity and increased duration untill mana is no longer any issue.

MANA vs Blood magic

Mana is a concern in this build , ea is a 100+ mana (current testing setup with 6l is 125 mana)
The biggest decision with the build is if it can be done without blood magic
I have chosen mana based build , blood magic is available though close to the tree posted above.

Blood magic (from tree)
More life
No mana points wasted on tree.
Negative: EA is massive mana , spamming costs 375 health per second negating most of your regen, you can also no longer reserve any mana (you can but i will not reserve life in hc)

Mana version
Herald of thunder curse (this build wants some leech , this provides it and endurance charges)
Mind over matter (massive for this build in hc, we already need good mana regen, this one point makes the investment worth it in my mind)
Blasphemy curse (im trying to avoid this atm, thunder will apply less but can apply at the edge of screen)
Negative: to make this viable it will have a considerable tree cost 10+ nodes for mana

The witch has mana nodes available but some gear with mana on it will need flat mana to scale"
Rings & necks
+mana prefix, 65-68 t2, 69-73 t1
+mana regen, 50-59 t2, 60-69 t1

If a ring and neck would be enough endgame dual curse with a doryani ring would be cool , it has mana and regen on it too.

Eldridge battery could be viable for this build , I will not be considering that , current testing gear in stand has litterally 0 es

Getting Elemental Equilibrium is mandatory for EA imo, especially if you run HoT. On a blood magic version players usually get some flat cold or lightning damage on a gear piece.
Any update on this yet Colwyn? Not so much a video necessarily just - is it viable? Starting a HC witch today-
