Double Stacking mods
|
So in my experience I have noticed (as the main page implies) mods such as Enhanced damage seemingly stacking on top of each other, one mod being Enhanced damage, while another mod being enhanced damage + Accuracy.
I recently had a debate with a more experienced player saying these mods don't exist separately. He had said the main page was out dated and wrong. That enhanced damage can actually go above 149% and sometimes has a free accuracy bonus. I understand the debate explained like this could be a little confusing so I'll give the example the debate came from. I used alterations to roll a 149% cruel mod, Then used regal and exalts aiming for that extra enhanced damage + accuracy mod. He claimed this to be impossible, because it was one base mod. He debated this very strongly, so I would like to get a solid answer for this. A dev would be as solid as an answer could get. |

I'd also like to know the answer to this.

have you even read all the info on the site?
90% of it was from like 9.1 or earlier |

Any rare weapon you see, with more than 150% (including) enhanced physical damage, it has basically 2 prefixes (among the others), one being "damage" and the other one being "damage and accuracy".
A rare item can have up to 6 mods, 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes, and in this case those 2 mods are stacking the damage part. All rare weapons that i've seen with more 150% had that accuracy part, all of them. Please show me one with more than 150% and without accuracy ... you can't bacause it's impossible to get one like that. And by the way, rare items dont have "special mods", they have the same mods as do magic ones, the only difference being that rare can have up to 6 mods and magic items can have up to 2 mods. Only uniques items can have "special mods" like culling strike and whatever. It's simple and a logical conclusion. In my personal opinion that more experienced player has it wrong in this case. Lol, 'and sometimes has a free accuracy bonus'. That is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. That 'free' bonus has to come from somewhere, it has to be attributed to a mod. Either this person was trolling you or they were clearly talking out of their ass. The mods stack. It's common knowledge. If you do a careful search you can find a few threads discussing the two damage mods.

"This is the correct answer. The %damage amounts of the 2 mods stack in the item description, making it appear as if they are the same mod, but they're not. The item data pages were completely redone as of 0.9.4, so the information isn't outdated. As FaceLicker said, this has been discussed before. Devs have offered this same explanation more than once in the past. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

Thank you guys. Even without a dev response I feel I can conclude that I have won this debate.

"Yes, this is correct. The Increased damage mod and the increased damage + accuracy mod are separate mods, and if you have both the increases to damage add together when describing the stats, since they are the same stat. mobutu is also correct about rares and magics having the same mods - while rarity is one of the things we can bias or restrict mods based on (along with stuff like attribute alignment and item type), the only instance of us restricting certain mods to rare-only is with the monster aura mods. | |

Unavailable Just thought I'd link this to give an example Edit: I was thinking about this a bit and looked into item prefixes and such. Now, I am not sure how this actually got 165 % ED, because: Item level is 42 (I am sure here) That would enable prefixes up to lvl 35 (damage scaling and damage scaling + acc) " That somehow doesn't add up to 165 %, and why does it only have +44 ACC bonus if it would need at least the maximum roll on Mercenary prefix to get most AD% bonus ? Maybe I have not understood how this works, but I would appreciate it if someone clarifies this matter :) Another Edit: I forgot about item quality. Not on my home computer, and item quality does not show when linked - might be the issue here ? Last edited by Masa#1588 on Jan 13, 2012, 7:32:29 PM
