What are your self found "rules"?

I play alone, almost entirely self found but I trade occasionally.

my motivation? playing alone is fine. not a big fan of the social
organization... waiting on people, rotating etc...

load her up, run some maps, logoff.

hard to start a league self found. I literally starve for alch's
during league unless I trade for them. solo self found alch's
are your bread and butter. (gots ta 5 item vendor alched jewlery until
you gets whats you needs.)

alchs can be produced with the 20% recipe quite easily while playing selffound
for true selffound you really need to utilze a lot of stashtabs

its nice but gimping yourself without getting anything out of it....

would be insanely easy for ggg to reward ssf
YOU TRADE YOU ARE OUT OF THE RACE

I've played a lot of self-found and find it very enjoyable. And much harder, and much, much slower. :)

Early on, I gave up the idea of being isolationist, e.g. I do allow sharing of items between my characters. I like making lots of characters and if I couldn't share stuff inbetween them it would be too punishing. For me that is, not saying it's how you should feel.

I did also try the new account approach, but gave up on that because of stash tabs.. I'm a spoiled packrat, playing with 4 tabs makes me want to hurt myself. ;) Also, as you already mention: lack of MTX isn't fun.

I think I'd give up on being an isolationist too when I actually think about how slow it would be. Also, I'm not as much of a packrat so it might be a little harder for me :P

Most enjoyable self-found I think is when a new league starts. Create one character and go full retard with it. There's something really rewarding about starting from scratch, for sure. I tend to start all new characters in temp leagues, and use Standard later on for fine tuning and tweaking.

What I had been thinking, sounds like a great idea! The issue is I want to play regularly too haha. I enjoy playing with friends and beign able to progress at a quick pace, but it'll get old and self found would be a nice switch.

Thanks to everyone who posted, helped me get a grasp on what rules I'd wanna place on myself and what would be the most fun and convenient.

I'll probably end up doing something along the lines of:
- No new account, don't wanna lose the cosmetics I've bought
- Share items between self found characters (but not with characters who aren't self found). I'll be playing both self and regular
- Unfortunately, share a hideout between self found/regular. Not desirable but it's inevitable when leages will merge anyways. Also, not sure if I could bring myself to delete my character if not in a hardcore league! Considering self found but not hardcore though.

For me it's pretty simple, I just play the game as if it was offline. So trading between my chars is fair game, I just don't trade or party with others.

Ok that's not entirely true, before I had a currency tab I made a bit of pocket money selling chromatics for chaos, but that was only because I didn't have the room in my stash for all the chroms I was finding.

pretty much how i do things when i'm self-found.

I don't self-found much anymore, but even so my trading/partying is still limited. Party stuff is only for challenges (or the occasional 'this guy politely asked for help with a boss, i'll help them out'). When trading, I don't deal in buying or selling rares with the exception of selling rare jewels, otherwise I only trade currency and uniques.
When you see a rare devourer with powerful crits mod, press alt + f4.
Purist. Self found means no partying with others, no trading with others, no sharing between my own characters, nothing. Just what you can do with NPC's, that's it. If you share gear with your other characters that have already played through, it's not really self found is it?

It's easiest to do when a new league starts. You play 1 character without ever partying or trading with anyone, 100% self found, and when you're bored of it you can play your better equipped standard characters until the next league begins.
