It's super scary just watching him like that. I don't like the guy or his stream but if I do pop and watch it, it freaks me out seeing his uptime being over 24hrs

xD you just had to write that aswell, didn't you?
Anyways, I wish you best of luck and success with your diet, hope you get... normal? is that the right word here? healthy maybe? again!
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
If you haven't already, have your physician carefully check your magnesium levels. The prime catalyst for all of your body's energy reactions is magnesium. ATP is actually 3 mag 5 ATP.

Blood serum should be in the 1.7mEq - 2.2mEq range (some sources have it from 1.3 - 2.3), but since the body controls this electrolyte so closely (less than 0.7% is ever unbound) you can reach chronic depletion levels before symptoms start to show up.

High Carbs (especially if they aren't whole grain), high stress, diuretics and caffeine are known factors that can deplete your body's stores of magnesium. High blood pressure, and proton-pump inhibitor medicines (like Prilosec and Nexium) are also factors.

By the time blood serum tests show anything, your body might already be in dangerous territory. Serious neuromuscular and cardiac problems are caused by hypomagnesemia, and it is being investigated as a caustive factor in type 2 diabetes. (something to do with intracellular phosphate binding IIRC

If your provider can't diagnose hypomagnesemia from your history:

An intracellular test (such as Spectracell)

or testing by fractional excretion of magnesium is much more definitive than blood serum levels.

Fractional Excretion is calculated as the product of the urine mag concentration and the plasma creatinine divided by 0.7 times the plasma mag times the urine creatinine. This is all then multiplied by 100 percent. The 0.7 term here accounts for the fact that only about 70 percent of circulating magnesium is free and is able to be filtered across the glomerulus. If the fractional excretion of mag is greater than 2 percent, it suggest excessive renal losses. If it's less than 2 percent, it suggests GI losses.

Low magnesium is associated (40% increase) with diabetes, and a six fold increase in sudden cardiac death. It is the forgotten cation, that many physicians fail to check.

IIRC, the link between magnesium and diabetes has to do with dysfunctional phosphorylation of the insulin receptors (the P in ATP is Phosphate and it is bound to Magnesium) Without adequate magnesium, the mitochondria can't keep the body's energy levels up and you'll have less energy than a plant.

Hmm, not finding the link I thought I had bookmarked on phosphorylation. There is one study here with a more general etiology linkage:

Lower intake of magnesium and dietary fiber increases the incidence of type 2 diabetes in Taiwanese

And an overview of some of how Magnesium works on the metabolic level (there are over 1800 associated functions, and over 300 enzymes dependent on Mg)

As insulin resistance and chronic kidney disease (and low magnesium) all go hand in hand, I'd suggest having your glomerular filtration rate checked (both GFR calculated and GFR black).

A Naturopath can be an excellent resource, as many of the best options for controlling all of these are diet and exercise. As many nutrients can compete with other for absorption and intracellular binding, when you eat certain foods (avoiding certain combos) can be as important as what you are eating. Too much of a nutrient (especially an electrolyte) can cause the body to actually become depleted through renal wasting.

In any case, hope you get thoroughly checked out and have a safe road to recovery!

I did keto for 6 weeks and lost 10 kg. Great diet but my shit was fluid a lot of times.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Great thread here! I was directed by my doctor to a low glycemic diet and Aerobic exercise! I'm on strictly whole grains, pure proteins, sweet potatoes - no spuds :(, 'good' oils, cherries & blueberries before bed etc...

Pre-diebetic and all that jazz

Just want to thank you guys for the great info. (DalaiLama in particular!)

Couldn't resist. But thanks, actually being as healthy as I always thought I was will be nice.

@DalaiLama

I eventually figured out that my diet was low on electrolytes (something the naturopath really should have mentioned), and I began taking supplements of magnesium and potassium and increasing my sodium intake to make up for it. I'm getting exactly as much as I should be now, but if an imbalance has already been created, I can imagine that it might not necessarily be corrected automatically, so thanks for the tip.
Energy drinks are some of the baddest shit you could consume. They're probably worse than some drugs when abused. Soft drinks themselves are shit, energy drinks are shit on steroids. I'm of a mind they should be banned. The effect of such high levels of sugar, caffeine and god knows what else received in a liquid are devastating on many levels and it fucks up your electrolyte balance... but DalaiLama already wrote a dissertation on that.

So, about zizaran - yeah, streamer fucking up his health with bad regime, more news at eleven.

That aside, when I was a regular at cyber cafes I knew a bunch of people who would take amphetamines and play for 3 to 5 full days without sleep. They are even still alive 8 years later. Our bodies are surprisingly tough and can recover from almost anything.

@DalaiLama: so far I've seen you write dissertations on medicine, biology, politics - is there something you can't write a dissertation on? Perhaps small particle physics?
You have to be realistic about these things.

Sorry kids I've been out of the loop.
Ziz as Zizaran, a streamer? What, did he die or something after playing 666 hours straight?
