Does the game still protect 6 links?

There used to be the 6 link protection feature this game whereby you cannot accidentally unlink it. I noticed that currently, 4 links can still be unlinked. Is the 6 link protection feature still on? Or can I turn it on from settings?
There has never been 4L protection, since rerolling the links of a 4L is something you actually want to do occasionally. 5s5L and 6L protection is still there, and doesn't have to be enabled or anything.
Have you done something awesome with Sire of Shards? PM me and tell me all about it!
This was actually a really informative thread. I didn't know these things.

Minor correction for any old-timers who might be scratching their heads at remembering this being a thing: When we initially introduced link protection, any fully linked item was unable to have Orbs of Fusing used on it.

Player feedback was that in the case of four-links and below, there were many cases players wanted to break those links, to have two separate single-supported skills, and the four-link was easy enough to get back with fusings that the mechanic was doing more harm than good. The mechanic was quickly adapted to only apply to fully linked items with five or six sockets.

So there was actually protection on four links for a very short time in the live game, but we pulled in quickly in response to players. Fully linked five or six socket items still can't have Orbs of Fusing applied.
Cool, thanks.
I think you can unlink the items using Vorici though, even 6L items. (Even Tabula, I think.)

And also there was a while where you couldn't unlink 4L items using Vorici either, which was an issue for corrupted items.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Wow, I absolutely do not remember that! That would explain why so many people expect it to be there. >_< Thanks.
