How does Blood of the Karui work with minions?

It was featured in the God Spectres summoner build, and I im trying it myself now. But it doesnt seem to work. At least I could tell my Animated Guardian did not seem to be healed at all by it.

Read a comment saying with umb im flasks only heal zombies and spectres, not animated guardian.
