State of Exile podcast Sunday April 10, 2016 at 4:00 pm EST with Chris as guest
" 30% more ppl playing perandus than Chris expected/predicted Skill MTX are hard, and don't make them much money in the short to medium term, because if only 2% of people are using Firestorm and you make a Firestorm MTX, your target audience for sales is only 2% of the playerbase. That's a pretty shit recipe if you're trying to make money for the next 7 days - but they are profitable for the long term though. 'Custom Challenge Leagues' that individuals or guilds could purchase are a bit tricky. They haven't been done yet because players have asked for trade improvements and performance improvements to be top priority. That's practically speaking. In theory they're still awkward because of the challenges of communicating the idea to the community. I.E. you're halfway through Perandus league and you log in and are like 'wtf another league? how do I cope?' or something. Perandus not coming to the core game any time soon (maybe in the distant future as a zana mod. No PvP focus, but they are considering more 'competitive PvE' type stuff. Kind of like what were about to see with the normal/cruel/merc lab timed leaderboards. GGG are trying to more finely tune their release schedule to be a more steady 3x per year small release, medium release, big release each with their own challenge leagues of course. Small being just a new set of challenge leagues, medium being challenge leagues and core game improvements / balance changes, large being a full expansion with leagues and improvements and balance changes. No free premium tabs, contingency plans for poe.trade not servicing f2p players anymore. They also had some macro discussion on the new player experience as it relates to a lot of the previous topics. |

You forget champion monsters (they could be introduced in the game, they are in experimental phase). Monsters for higher difficulties that are all about sinergistic skills and AI, to make fights harder in places like Act I or II. Not just lazy "moar modz plz".
That's easily the most exciting thing in the whole podcast, XD Also, about the labyrinth, it seems GGG team will adjust it, but there was no talk about allowing it to be skipped. The purpose of trials is to make you visit many places that are not normally visited, and GGG feels the task is apropiate for the reward. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

" You didn't miss much. It was way too short on substance, a few things Chris said about the future of PoE but then he is always saying it's not carved in stone yet so don't hold me to anything I say. Also there is nothing to see, Chris still didn't have live streaming so a static picture was used of him and it didn't include a fishing pole and white Rhoa feather lure in it. How wrong is that? "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

" This is one of the few gems to be gleamed from the podcast. I always liked Warbands League as the war bands didn't just blindly charge at my exile (I can play any of the Serious Sam games for that) and required me to play more strategically than just play the "he who kills fastest lives" game. I tire of the monsters mindlessly charging me or worse mindlessly running right past me to go after a minion farther away. The mobs really have no AI at all.
