Dual strike, crit chance, on hit effect and attack speed, I get confused.
Hi, I am making a flasking dual strike dual wield crit ranger, and I am stumped on a few things:
If I dual wield while having different crit or accuracy, according to the wiki I can miss with one and hit with the other, and crit with one and miss with the other, so are these two possible hits/crits for the purpose of having a lot of crits? If I dual strike while dual wielding, I use the main hand weapon speed, but do I still get the 10% weapon speed of dual wielding? If I use different claws, I get different on hit effects, do these both factor? The wiki states generally on-hit effects do not go double, but these are different on-hit effects. I need about 10-11 crits each round (for perma onslaught flask, the rest is cheaper), which I almost get if it counts as a single attack (dual strike, multistrike, faster attacks, imp crit with haste, blood rage, asassin's mark and a second set frenzy multistrike power charge on crit fortify to keep buffs/charges up). I know it will be easier with cast on crit blade vortex, but am somewhat set on trying it without spells until I get to all the dodging and a 6 link Hyrri's leather around L85 or so. I'd need a Gemini claw by then to keep my mana up against hexproof stuff. Taking pathfinder instead of Raider would also have helped, but I did not have this idea then so am trying to make this work. dual strike uses both weapon attack speed and make a medium of both speed. So yeah you get all the bonus involveld to dual wield.
Yes you get all bonuses, bonuses apply once : you deal one strike with both weapons at once. AKA it hits once. Thoo it's one hit done by two weapons, and it's a bit tricky, game may decide to crit with one weapon and not the other or to miss with one weapon and not the other. I will never be good but always I try to improve. Last edited by Geisalt#1772 on Apr 8, 2016, 2:19:20 PM

" Thanks! It would be interesting for me to focus attack speed over crit chance, just one of the weapons needs to crit per hit, 80% would mean 96% total still, and would leave some skill tree to go to 11-12 attacks per round. I would have to test what the gemini or double claw does, though if I can permarun a hybrid flask, the mana gain is kinda moot. I hope to get to about 1000-1200 life regen per second and 400-500 mana regen. That does not sound awful. This is, of course, not counting the blood rage regen to energy shield. |

" It wouldn't, Crit is still rolled once per skill use, so if you had 60% chance to crit with one weapon, and 80% with the other this would happen: if you roll 48 you crit with both if you roll 72, you crit with just one if you roll 85, you don't crit So, with those two weapons you'd actually have 70% average chance to get a crit with dual strike. Of course, each of those weapons also has to pass a chance to hit check and the crit confirmation, but you can think of dual strike as having an extra roll on that so it won't drop your chance for crit too much. So, if you also had 85% chance to hit that would mean you got 66% chance to get a crit with dual strike. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Hmmm, this may make my build a bit problematic. Maybe I should shoot for lesser flasks.
Thanks for the replies, I did not think the roll would work that way. |
