How do I Ascend in Standard?

My World screen shows "Quest Complete - You have completed the Lord's Labyrinth an earned your Ascendancy" in all 3 difficulties.
The POE website passive skill tree shows my character as having 6 ascendancy points, but when I go to the skill tree ingame, there's no mention of Ascendancy points and the little button on the start area that shows the popout Ascendancy tree is missing. Does it have anything to do with the 'Full Passive Skill Reset' it offers me (which I don't want)? Favourite armour? Hmmm, I forget it's name, but it's that scarlet one that whatsherface wears when she wants to look splendid. I like Marmite. Last bumped on Apr 3, 2016, 3:31:52 PM

I need to complete the Labyrinth to choose an Ascendancy class, at least once. I think in Merciless but I'm not 100% sure.

You have to complete the laby at least once in any difficulty to pick a sub-class. Then you can assign your points.

YOur question has already been answered, but I just wanted to reply to this particular part:
" The online skill tree always shows (at least) 123 passive points and 6 ascendancy points total. It's not a reference for the number of skill points you currently have. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:
