List of Client.exe Arguments, Launch Options

There should be a list of Client.exe options here somewhere. I only know a few from patch notes and support from the devs, please feel free to comment any corrections and missing info.

To change these options, you can usually right-click your Path of Exile shortcut, select Properties and then add the option after the Target: "%ProgramFiles%\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe", after the quotes as shown:

--nosound disables sound.
"
Added a --nosound option to the client to turn off all sound.

--softwareaudio forces use of OpenAL Soft rather than any proprietary OpenAL implementation which might allow for secret hardware functions.
"
Players getting BSODs due to using a Creative soundcard should now try adding --softwareaudio to the command-line of the game.

--adapter:<Number> sets the display adapter. *Note: Do not use this command, instead use your graphics driver menu, or set this by right-clicking on the Path of Exile shortcut and choosing to run the game with the dedicated graphics card.
"
If you pass "--adapter:0" then it will use the first adapter in the system and passing "--adapter:1" will select the second, and so on.
If one of you with this graphics card could try starting the client with -adapter set to 0, 1, 2, 3 and so on until the game will not start and see if any of the adapters in your system cause the game to run fast.

-gc 1
-gc 2
increases garbage collection to lessen memory impact.
"
you can put -gc 2 at the end of your Path of Exile shortcut (Open the shortcut properties, and add a { -gc 2} after the last quotation mark). If this still doesn't help, try -gc 1. Doing this will increase load times between areas you have visited, and similar areas.

"
I get an error message and a crash after playing the game for a while.
EOUTOFMEMORY or Unable to Map File
This usually occurs when your game file runs out of ram, common on PCs with low ram or running 32bit versions of windows. Running the game with Texture Quality set to Medium usually fixes this, though having less than 4gb of ram will cause problems after changing areas a number of times. We will improve the memory recovery system in future.
You can also reduce the rate of these crashes slightly by adding -gc 2

"
That's the best temporary fix until we're able to solve memory fragmentation!

--patching-server <Address:Port> specifies the patching server and port number.
"
--patching-server pathofexile.com:3724

--nopatch stops the client from automatically patching.
"
If you add "--nopatch" to the end of your shortcut (without the quotes), does it still crash?

--require-launch prevents the launch until you press the launch button, allowing you to read the patch notes even when there was no new patch.
