New Keystone: Glancing Blows

I had another thought.

If one-shots are usually caused by Critical Strikes rather than normal hits, then perhaps there should just be an exacerbation of Evasion being able to mitigate them.

So how about this:

Glancing Blows:
You don't receive additional damage from Critical Strikes.
20% less Evasion for each Critical Strike you've received recently.

Critical strikes will still make you more susceptible to damage, so this will still make them dangerous to encounter, but you won't die to them any more than you'll die from normal hits.

Which also means it's not a replacement for having enough Life, too.
Evasion already cuts number of Crits. For a Crit to happen the hit first has to roll for hit and then roll for crit. High Evasion characters are Crit very very rarely.

while anything that buff evasion is welcome your idea benefits ranged due to being hit less often over over melee who will see this shield quickly depleated from small hits.

i could see it happening as an alternative to acrobatics say:

glancing blows
reduce 1 point of incoming damage every "x" evasion
cant dodge
15% less block chance

this keystone combined with other reduction would offer that edge that aloud eva chars to have a better chance to survive big hits, reason for not stacking with dodge is becouse otherwise it will become a must have wich is something i dislike plus high dodge + high evasion can already be quite tought (with some luck) so no need to add extra reduction to it.

it olso has great sinergy for hibryd builds such as eva-armor for best reduction and eva-ES as a complement, something acrobatics isnt very good at.

At the risk of committing acts of necromancy to the forums, I'll throw my 2 cents to this topic. Perhaps Glancing Blows shouldn't be a keystone of itself but an in game mechanic that GGG could implement and it would go something like this:

The chance of a glancing blow is half that of your estimated chance to evade. This checks last after all defensive mechanical checks fail.

For example 66% estimated chance to evade = 33% chance to receive glancing blows

Since the max estimated evasion chance caps out at 90% or 95% whatever the max was. Either way, the chance of receiving a glancing blow will never reach above 50%

When it checks true for a glancing blow to happen, the damage reduction would be so that the player takes the "equivalent glancing blow chance" less (physical?)damage after all calculations are applied.

Keep in mind that this would only apply to attacks not spells.

Of course if you have weak evasion(less than estimated 40% evade chance) you will not likely get the benefit of this mechanic, but high evasion characters will. The end result could rival that of high armor builds if thoroughly balanced you could still get 1 shot but not as likely as before. This mechanic has the potential synergy for hybrid armor+evasion builds as well.
Meh, I'm not sure I care about the thread necromancy or not, but I don't think the idea is a good one. It is basically trying to turn EVA into armour. We have a keystone for that already, and I think it is a pretty good one.
