Who is (canonically but also to you guys personally) the actual hero in PoE?

So for me, it feels like the hero of the game is the Scion out of all the 7 characters. She is who I connect with the most as my avatar in Wraeclast (and I am a straight male too...) In my head, when I try to imagine game events really happening, the Scion is who I see felling Dominus and Malachai. Interestingly, I started playing a few days before her release, but instantly rerolled as soon as I unlocked her, and she is the class I have played the most.

What about the rest of you? What about GGG? It would be nice to see who Chris or Mark see as the hero of the game...

(Funnily, I am actually using the necro portrait cos ascendant one sucks. GGG PLS)
Love the games. PoE1 way more so than PoE2, but still enjoying both.

Hate the company. The scummy, lying, fake and shitty facade, the excuses, the failures, and most of all, the "Vision".

Keep both of those in mind when reading my posts.

There are no real heroes in this game.
From the classes Scion is the most innocent one, however the player makes for their actions, always turning them into mosters along the way.

The closest to heroes are among other exiles. I would say that probably some of the masters - their goals are mostly positive overall.
Obviously the protagonist is Grigor, and he failed.. We're just the mop up crew.

Obviously Elreon. Not sure what will happen if he succeed in is crusade though!

Daresso.

I feel bad killing his dream-image/beast-avatar every time.
luckily, it also feels satisfying to beat him, because he fights like the badass he is.
except Floating Swords. fuck Floating Swords.

and Voll, because he somewhat reminds me of Lachdanan (D1).

Piety? after Tolman, and Lunaris Temple?
if anything, the story does a great job portraying her as "THE villain" right from Act 1.
more than Dominus and certainly more than Malachai.
and Act 3 is just the icing really. she is female Josef Mengele.
when she gets impaled I want to bro-fist Malachai for finally doing what I could not.
and then kill him, of course.

Dialla? a great character but not the hero type. she usually has "heroes" do the dirty work for her.

Desheret? yes. absolutely.

Definitely Greust.

The amount of water he produces by spitting is enough to supply whole Wreaclast.
PoE isn't a story... it's a setting.
I don't feel PoE falls within that kind of story.

With that said, for the sake of the thread, I'd say the Templar. His backstory can personnaly explain both the beginning of the narrative and a big part of its development (through his fellow templar Dominus). He (as well as several other classes) is more «gritty» than the rather «soft» Scion, which is more in line with the ambiance prevailing in Wraeclast, without being a child killer like the Witch.

Also, no pants.
