Strongest melee single target?

Between 5 link EQ and a 5 link heavy strike which will output the most single target damage?
Or is there an even better skill? IGN: Arlianth Check out my LA build: 1782214 Last bumped on Mar 26, 2016, 2:30:01 PM

Do you mean DPS?
Heavy Strike is problematic since it pushes the enemy backwards and you need to keep adjusting your position, so you lose dps by walking. EQ is problematic since you need to time it so an attack takes just a little bit longer than the skill duration, to get max dps. Both can get really high if you get around those issues though. Other high single-target dps skills that also have limitations include: Dual Strike Frenzy Viper Strike Vigilant Strike (The cooldown for this is a bit hard to bypass though!) Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Between the two I'd put my money on EQ. Heavy strike is pretty annoying, and it probably does less dps overall.
For try, for see, and for know.
This is a buff |

I think you're both right. Heavystrike is literally worthless at doing what it's supposed to do.
EQ with iaoe swapped for conce seems to actually be stronger which means i have 5 links doing nothing. IGN: Arlianth

Leap/CoH/Curse/Fortify/Faster Attack or Blood Magic?
(btw, I like heavy strike punchy gameplay, but I never link it to multistrike) Ranger builds list: /917964 When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch? If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch. Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart... Last edited by Panini_aux_olives#1967 on Mar 23, 2016, 8:21:09 PM

For the sake of simplicity, let's assume you are in a non-stop attacking position (namelocking), in a 1 VS 1 boss fight.
Now, let's create a damage indicator (DI), which will be taking into account : - skill base attack damage modifier - skill attack speed modifier (usually a penalty in the "less" form) - skill secondary damage (stages) To get real DPS, you would need to do : DI * raw dmg * dmg mods * raw AS * AS mods This is for a lvl20 skill without any support attached to it, and does not take enemy armor/resistances into account. Also, some skills have more potential than others with supports. There we go : cleave : 136.6% (single) | 163.92% (dual) dominating blow : 155.4% earthquake : 109% (additionnal 195.11% after duration) glacial hammer : 170.4% ground slam : 104% heavy strike : 184.2% (without knockback) ice crash : 138.15% infernal blow : 160.4% molten strike : 146.6% + 87.96% per proj static strike : 218.56% sunder : 171.955% sweep : 107.1% vigilant strike : 203% (without cooldown) Will do green skills later. I am probably wrong because I do not use any of the two skills mentioned, however...]
What about using heavy strike and grabing those knockback nodes and then you those gloves that reverse knockback so that you pull the mob to you rather than push it away? |

You could do that but if all you're insterested in is maximum single target dps there are equal or better options.

" Are you trying to say that if i use ice crash once on a boss at close range, he wont get the damage of all 3 rings ? Feel free to enlighten me, cause i saw nothing about that anywhere. EDIT : 184.2*(1+0.8+0.6)*0.75 ANOTHER EDIT : I thought about it, and i think you meant that the first AOE is a disk, but the 2 others are doing damage "outside" the previous, if that makes sense (first disk would become a dead zone). In that case, i was wrong (and IC isnt as OP as i thought). Would be nice to know if Sunder has a similar behaviour.
