can't equip sceptres

hi guys. im playing templar hirophant and am currently using lifesprig. ive found a couple of sceptres i want to use but my weapon equipment slots go red when i try to equip a sceptre. is it just that i cant havee a sceptree and wand combo or is something else going on. and yes i have checked that i have the necessary level to use the sceptres. thanks.

Yeah, it's just that you can't equip wand + melee weapon. The game can't cope with it when it comes to attacks, much to the dismay of casters everywhere.
