RAM not freeing up after Game is closed

Hi forums/tech support

I have an issue with PoE that seems to be occurring only since Ascendency hit.
When I close the game, my RAM usage sits at 7 of my 8GB while everything displayed in my ressource monitor only adds up to around 0.5 GB. I haven't observed this with any other software I'm running.

The only way I can fix this is restarting.

Kind Regards

I'd guess you are on windows 10?

If so it's apparently using a new method to hold onto data in the ram which is where this sort of problem occurs
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
I have the same problem and im on windows 10 too. I even get warnings that my ram is full and i have to close the game.

I think this new method is to store gamefiles in the ram, so they dont have to be stored on your harddrive. Normally you have like 5 gig or something on your harddrive reserved for exact this situations. And windows 10 is like " oh lets use the ram for those stuff because ram is faster than your hd".

And it actually works pretty fine, but not for poe.....

So i really hope ggg finds a solution for this, even if they have to contact microsoft. Its not the customers responsibility to be honest. The thing is i dont just have to restart poe, i have to restart my whole pc because the files keep stored lol.

i am having this issue as well as the other posts re: ram usage

from a fresh boot my system has low memory usage.
i fire up the game and it ramps up to 2gb usage.
at times my game crashes
you can kill the game and memory usage does drop a bit but for some reason win 10's ram usage will not go back down to where it should be. example.. 90% ram usage with poe running at 2gb ram. close poe and you get down to like 85%. if you add stuff up, it totals nothing near 85%.
disabling superfetch did not help at all. i was testing, no need to reply about it.
emptying standby in rammap did not help.
i'm going to try -swa next.
the only workaround that i have found that helps so far is rebooting.
i may have had the occasional crash like once every 2 months prior to asc, but the memory thing i have never had happen before.

edit: i also notice that sometimes the sound clips. like after a currency or item drops. i use neversink's filter.

win10 pro
i7 cpu
16.0gb ram
