[2.2] AoE Cold Saboteur - Massive Glacial Cascade Mines/Ice Traps | SC | Stupid Cheap | Easy PvP

Intro

This build is a cheap, effective and fun way to get yourself established in a new league. It mainly uses 2 huge aoe skills, glacial cascade mines and ice traps, to clear your screen off of any enemies be they mobs, bosses, or other exiles in the arena.

Also, by cheap I mean REALLY cheap. You can effectively start this build with under 1 chaos.

Pros
Spoiler
-Fast clear speed
-Tremor rods are dirt cheap
-Effective even with 4 links
-Gr8 penetration
-Effective farming for low to mid tier maps
-Great burst damage: W/ 6PC's, 12 Traps, 11 Mines and everything hitting just once is 150k+ Damage
-Frost Bomb and Frostbite reduce Cold Resist by 65%
-No Reflect Damage aside from Frost Bomb.

Cons
Spoiler
-Rough leveling process
-Little to no physical mitigation
-Struggles with high HP bosses
-Mana issues (debatable)
-Multiple skills needed

Defenses
I'm probably going to sacrifice something and go into Acrobatics for dodge/spelldodge + stibnite flask for avoiding most physical damage (Will update when I get there).
Spoiler

Offensive Skills Ice Trap x12 + Glacial Cascade x11 (x2 detonations)
Spoiler
ICE TRAP (136% AoE)

GLACIAL CASCADE (107% AOE)

Gear
Spoiler

Essential Gear
Spoiler
The Tremor Rod is one of the most useful and the only Mine item in the game. While it has a 'less' mine damage multiplier, it allows you to activate mines twice. This is especially useful when you're moving quickly from pack to pack, as you lay half your mines, detonate, then move on and lay another set, effectively leapfrogging with them. It is also ridiculously cheap, I found a top roll on poe.trade for 1 alch.

Luxury Gear
Spoiler

Costs around 1 Exalt and is just overall really good for this build. BUT; you don't need this item to make the build work, it only improves what's already there.

I recently bought one of these for 20 chaos (probably overpaid) but it is also an unnecessary but useful addition to clearing. More Glacial Cascade AoE = more effective clearing

Voidbringers are tricky. You don't benefit from the ES on kill and it makes it much harder to maintain mana, but I really love that crit chance; and with a 384% crit multiplier the more the better.

Also going to want to get an Atziri's step for dodge later on

My Shit
Spoiler
The rest is just life, resists and movement speed.

Bandits: Oak - Skillpoint - Alira

Leveling
It's not the fastest method, but I used Orb of Storms and spark, until I was able to start using ice trap, and then fully switched to traps/mines once I got to lvl 45, a Tremor Rod, and both Clever Construction/Volatile Mines Nodes.

Gameplay
For Trash clearing:
1)Throw 2 sets of 6 Ice traps
2)Lay 1-2 sets of mines before the traps set
3)Detonate
4)(If not clear) Throw another 2 sets of traps
5)(If not at 11 mines] lay mines till at 11
6)Detonate
7)Quicksilver and run to next pack

For Bosses:
1)Frost Bomb and Frostbite for -65% Cold Resistance
2)Traps
3)Mines
4)Detonate
5)Traps
6)Detonate

-If a strong enemy gets too close use a stibnite flask.
-Always keep up your mana flask and Rallying Cry to compensate for high cost of mines.
-The exception to the last tip is when there is a massive group of mobs or a boss, which is when you should use Vaal Clarity (16 seconds of no mana costs) and just go ham.

Thanks for taking the time to Read this. First Written Guide.

Thanks :)
Inspired by the video you made last week I find this one of the funniest builds i have played thus far.. Thank you,
Lavianga's Spirit very nice for this build, i think ))
Hey just saw your build and totally started a new character following it. Reaching the higher level is a bit slow but I can already see that it is worth it.

However seeing that you don't use any auras that reserve mana, I figured that Clear Mind would be a perfect jewel choice for even more spell damage.

What do you think?

Hey, just wondering if the belt - Sunblast Cloth Belt - would be any good for this build. Btw great build. I've just started not too long ago and in the video it seems amazing for clears and big groups.

It's not a bad choice for leveling, but the movement speed reduction kind of hurts :(

Yep, that's the only reason why I'm using no auras atm :)
If I can pull enough resist, I'm hoping to go essence worm with grace to get that big evasion bonus but still be able to use clear mind.

Sunblast probably better for pure trappers, but that's basically what you'll be until you have the right passives/gear for mines. And yeah, its great for mid tier map clearing just to build up some currency.
