Is crit really doing anything? Doesn't it only affect the initial hit and not the DoT? The most important piece would be the DoT I think.
The DoT is dependent on damage dealt on hit so it scales proportionally.
Ok, so it would help. Thanks. I just don't see how using all those points into a menial amount of crit(even with power charges) out dps's the other chaos/dot/poison nodes so readily available and for less investment. I thought even you yourself said that crit wasn't worth it didn't you?

Depends if you like crit or not. You can easily get Elemental Overload instead for 40% MORE damage which should free up more points for some survivability or more damage nodes. I don't know the point of getting some crit chance and then using Controlled Destruction just to reduce more crit chance.

dude, I didn't even think about that controlled destruction makes it totally pointless lol...yea I am currently EO, proccing it weirdly enough with whirling blades where before I would cast orb of storms.
Also, kind of wondering why/if OP knows about this and wondering also about damage effectiveness of blasphemed vuln vs HoI. Need to try this out or if someone would like to confirm which is better, guessing vuln but then there is more of a strain on mana...

I haven't done a lot of trapping so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Would this build benefit from the "grenade mode" from using sunblast + 2x cheap construction?
Also would any other Ascendancies help besides saboteur?

For people asking about survivability. You can remove crit nodes and use elemental overload. Get more health nodes, use EB/ZO/MOM (you regenerate enough energy/second using the golem) and have about 17k evasion + 50% dodge to physical/magical with potions up. You can keep potions up indefinitely with reduced charges used belts and reduced charges used potions (totaling around 40%+).
How does Elemental Overlord work with this build if you don't spec into crit at all and it says it removes all your crit? Do traps Auto crit or is there something I'm missing... Sorry for noob question
I'm pretty new to this game, gonna start leveling this character today in Perandus Hardcore. Any tips or info on how to play this build with the EO? generally speaking? Am I just run around avoiding while spamming traps or?

no because the sabs chain reaction passive detonates all traps at the same time so every other item becomes useless, those are only good if you aren't a sab.

it is easiest to proc it with orb of storms skill, with the op's build though it wouldn't make sense since EO makes your crit multi 0.
I apply it with whirling blades or orb of storms, whirling blades is going to be slightly less effective because of the lower base crit chance to proc EO though. Also, it is more dangerous because you have to hit the enemy instead of placing it and running around.

HoI also increases the DoT portion as it increases the base hit as well. You are only benefiting from the damage over time increase in damage with Vuln. I would stick with HoI or go Enfeeble blasphemy for more survivability.

Choosing to go EO, frees up the crit nodes. You spend the crit nodes elsewhere. Proc EO with Orb of Storms and you get 40% more damage.

So is there middle ground? I wanna just have simple build where i place the traps and the stuff gets one shot and i can be not super squish and get to avoid stuff =P Is crit the way to go or EO ? Sorry again for my lack of knowledge I just started playing this week my first character ever is hardcore level 75 but its cookie cutter lightning arrow and now I'm trying to branch out and try different builds and this one looks fun, i just don't wanna level a lot and invest what little currency I have and then find out I made the wrong build
