Reave damage scaling

I am playing a crit reave archer, and in reave gem everyone can see : only works with daggers claws and 1h swords. Than i made a build using dagger in one hand and "support" axes and maces in another hand, but when i equipped a axe just to see what happened my damage scaled with it, the atk speed went higher, the damage the axe gives goes to the reave dmg, idk if this is supposed to happen, can someone teach me how reave mechanics works.

It's a tooltip bug, it will show your dps as if you were alternating dagger and axe even if you aren't, just ignore it.
