[2.2] An Old Idea Made New - CoC Theorycrafting
A long time, or rather long number of version ago (at least over a year or two I reckon), I picked up on this dual-wielding Scion Cast on Crit Discharge build. Unfortunately I can not remember who's it was. Anyway, I've always been intrigued by Staff Scions purely for aesthetical reasons, so I tried converting the CoC Discharge build into one, which put bluntly failed. Since then the skill map has be rerouted at least once or twice, and Ascendancy has just gone live, so I figured it might be worth another shot.
Apart from my aesthetic reasons, there is a practical point to using a staff as well: it allows you to split up your main attack skill chain over two five-links, or potentially six-links, depending ofcourse on your ingame financial situation. Rather than being based on Cyclone + Power Charge on Crit + Cast on Crit + Discharge for continuous discharges, you could use Cyclone + Power Charge on Crit and Leap Slam + Cast on Crit + Discharge seperately. This would allow for: - Cheaper (mana-wise) build up of charges since there's less 'blind firing' of discharges - More control over discharges in general - Much higher burst damage by being able to build up multiple charges - Higher value to parties because of above reasons (higher 'aimed' damage), and less machine-crashing epileptic blinking Alternatively Cyclone and Discharge could still be tied if you wanted to, and leave an entire five- or six-link for something else. The passive skill tree would look something like this: https://www.pathofexile.com/fullscreen-passive-skill-tree/AAAABAAAAY9Gm6ETcV6lWK40MfuL99esmHRVXyo6WFXGEQ_bXlAwIG5Ms5eVUlM9Xx0UjmT3prb6-tIWb-NqZp5yD1nzcYVXKUbX8xGxQu1EvJpBcslnSi7Vi6elGjiQVRZAhX1rtylPV5TVpu08mjuf3-98PAXAZgSzogCt8RhdgpvtILaGlnS31ttZLaixkIMJb56cpIcTdwfxs0tXwONGcbQMW_R5oYuZuW_K076Kkyd_xjBbrJeVhx2DwcWIQoIeFLBMLfTpNolnvbJwYpUqU35ZJ6k= As I've said, it's been a long time since I played this game, and I was wondering what other players would think of this idea with the current version the game is now at. Did some more item research and was thinking something like the one below would be ideal for this build.
![]() Unfortunately I don't realy have any currency yet on Perandus, otherwise I might have bought it straight away. It does bring up the point of how much Strength this build actually needs from the skill tree. Right now, I got it at 90, and adding 60 point through gear might be doable, but not ideal.
