Out of the dozens upon of dozens of reasons why the sky is falling throughout the years and why the server pop is dipping/mass leaves, the actual legitimate one for many people is Acutal content GGG themselves put into the game in an expansion that brought back record breaking amount of players.

They broke their concurrency record. Can't give hard numbers. But I'm not surprised. Kripp made Ascendancy look amazingly exciting. I bet that alone netted GGG tens of thousands of new players!
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

the expansion got me curious , having lifeleach and all that back so i can play my duelist or rauder again- maybe even for the first time start fresh on the new league.

Seems to have killed twitch viewers, too? Went from 22k at launch to 9k today? That's with Ziggy, Nugi, Etup, Raiz, Willy, Pox & Zeno all streaming. Etup's in first place in HC, and he's only pulling 1K viewers? Ziggy went from like 7K yesterday to 3k today.
