Aggro, the biggest secret ever.
|
4 year old posts without replies or answers,
no real info about the mechanics whatsoever. Aggro is above Aliens on the top secret list. Here's why: The game most likely runs through a check list of conditions which tells the monsters what to attack. Is the target friendly or hostile? How much life does it have compared to me or other targets? How much dps over the last X seconds? Did it crit or stun me? Is it targetting me? Who hit me most recently? Does it meet any other specific conditions? etc... Now, why won't GGG disclose any information about these aggro mechanics, conditions and rules? Because we could abuse that information. Let's PRETEND the target priority list used by monsters looks something like this: A - Golem > zombie > spectre > totem > player B - Target has endurance charges > power charges > frenzy charges C - Target has more than 80% life > target has less than 80% life With this information it would be easy to make a build that allows a player to take almost no dmg since all threat would be directed towards the A) golem or zombies with B) endurance charge on stun, and the player would be smart enough to always C) heal his minions and keep himself a little wounded under 80% life, to avoid any or all aggro, since those are our conditions in this silly example. Obviously the real list is totally different, but there still is a check list. I refuse to believe that GGG made aggro "absolutely random willy nilly" without any conditions, because decoy totem and taunt mechanics. My question is: why is aggro kept classified as if it was a dirty bio-weapon? And the point of this post is: could anyone from GGG say anything about aggro. Just acknowledge this post at least, say: "you're right, there is a list, but it's classified", or "there is no list, and we can't talk about aggro, since it's classified." Anything? Something? You can't just pretend someone coded aggro and... died, or left the firm with all data encrypted? You can't leak any info, because that would teach us how to avoid aggro. Am I right or am I right, huh? "Im smartest. Your stoped. Dael wiht it."

Good players develop this without specific numbers given. We learn what causes agro, even if we aren't consciously aware of it. Everyone exploits it to some degree. Abuse? Nah. Part of learning the game.

" Are you seriously claiming that nothing would change if we knew exactly how aggro is generated? That's pretty naive. "Im smartest. Your stoped. Dael wiht it."

You can just test it?
I played a rf totem char in talisman, and i noticed that mobs aggro really hard on what they see first. Remember, neither me nor my totems did any "hits", so the only aggro was what they saw first. If i made them aggro a totem first and then kept chaining totems they would almost always target the nearest thing. If they had once aggroed me, it was really hard to make them lose it, no matter what i did. Do your own testing if you think that it's so OP. It can't be that hard to make your own tests. |

I'm pretty sure GGG talks about aliens less than aggro.
We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.

" This completely. Numbers would just give you an inflated sense of security. |

I believe in RNG...
This shit needs to be killed just cause "why not?"... One time per second all the enemies only decide YES or NO based on a "0" and a "1" which is given randomly... Like everything in PoE XD Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

For this to be true, all monsters would need to use the same set of conditions when deciding their next action.
Their AI is a little more complicated than that :) Gameplay & Level Design

Best course of action is to offscreen them to death to avoid their AI which often involves discharge all over you in a -max resist map.
