That's a big *IF* I think. If the rarity feature works anything like Masters' offering uniques for sale than these are the kinds of things that will usually be for sale:

If doesn't mean "WILL" though, it could just mean that 1 player out of 5k players will get offered a Shav's, whilst everybody else gets an Araku Tiki.
Now add the fact that we don't know the price of said items, so when a player finally gets something useful, he/she might not even afford said item, and then just sell it to someone else (which is easy to scam with).

This all leads back to one thing: Godawfull Uniques that are still in the game, which people rather leave on the ground, to pick up that 6Socket item instead, because it would give you more value.

From the screenie, it seems he is offering older league specific items as well.

Perandus coins might not be gold (maybe they are silver or gold pressed latinum?), but they are still a currency that is trade-able.

Maybe the economy will decide it's good to have 10.000 of these coins always available, for when that ferengi guy will sell a Shav? Or maybe ctrl-LMB reset zone spamming will produce uniques at a higher rate than "normal gameplay".

If so, these coins will be treated the same as gold in other games - lots of boting, hoarding and cornering the market. This will in turn "leak" into the orb economy, by saturating the market with cheap uniques.

Will you risk to be that guy who is offered a Shav and not have the gold required? No, that's why people will hoard coins and a botting economy will develop.

I'm sure some very nice uniques will be available - I just expect that they will be rare enough not to really ruin "the economy". I would hope that the ones offered are more of the leveling type or that players in a new league would use to build around, so that the appearance of the vendor and the unique would be something to look forward to.

these coins do not alter an item like every single other currency in the game does

they are only to save up

then to buy a unique with


they are gold coins

First we find out how hard the bosses guarding the coin chests are and if they are even worth killing for a couple coins. If most items you see in the vendor are junk allot of people will just not bother, but Im sure there will be those few who find some way of opening 1 mil instances to get unlimited coins and offer to buy any good uniques offer if someone cant afford to buy it themselves.

Coins = currency
Orbs = currency

The coins are just another form of currency which will only last for 1 league... How are they any different to 'mine' jewels from darkshrine or any other form of currency in the game? They're not.
