Understanding new Deadeye node "Powerful Precision"

Your post reads a bit 'stream of consciousness' there khalithas! But I'll try to answer the things I think you are asking.

Returning projectiles can't re-hit enemies they hit the first time around.
Returning projectile can hit other enemies, which would then proc on-hit effects like LA's secondary hits.
(I haven't tested how this works with Chain, only pierce; If the projectile has already chained twice since it hit an enemy, it might be able to be re-hit that enemy on return.)

When using 'powerful precision' without any other sources of pierce, you would see a lot of projectiles returning (to little effect).

When using 'powerful precision' with 50% chance to pierce from some other source (eg: pierce gem, tree, projectile weakness), you do see some projectiles return, but not that many.

"
I assume having above 100% chance to pierce (as it gives 100% additional) and its losing it as it travels, means that we can't go above 100% but we can stay at around 100% longer (or farther)

Yes, this is correct

"
Here we get 100% increased critical strike chance, doesn't go up, but we lose crit chance as the projectile travels further, correct?

The crit chance bonus will be the same as your pierce chance. If your pierce chance when you hit an enemy is 56%, you will get 56% increased critical strike chance for that hit.

Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Hi all,

Im thinking about building barrage with 2-3 volleyfire jewels around this keystone. Im planning on having drillneck and around 60% extra pierce chance.

Then I would like to add coc + bladefall. The idea is that because of a lot of returning arrows to proc a lot of coc effects.

Would this work? Or would it be better to have less pierce chance and more returning arrows?

Thx for help

I think you will have to experiment with this to find out.

With 60% extra pierce and the inherent arrow spread from barrage it will be hard to get arrows to return. This may work somewhat if you can systematically target mob groups offscreen but I would not expect it to work well if you just shoot at some mobs on your screen. Or rephrased: You would have to run suitable maps and learn a specific playstyle to make it work.

Without the extra pierce it may work somewhat. But unless you want to use a unique bow you can also get the returning part with a Tora craft.

I would rather treat the returning part as a bonus instead of trying to build around it.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Ah ok didnt know about the tora craft. Thx for the fast reply.

The added 100% pierce chance is somewhat nice to utilize with drillneck I suppose. Even if it drops while the projectiles travel.

The Question is if its worth it. Even without a lot of returning arrows you get the dmg increase via drillneck and the extra crit chance. While the extra dmg would decrease together with the pierce chance.

On the other side you could save a lot of nodes and play just with the 100% pierce you get out of the node. Dont know if its still viable after the drillneck nerf.

But sure it need to be tested.
