Melee RT Templar, which ascendancy class to take?
Need help in theory crafting.
I use to play a melee RT templar. Any combination of ascendancy skills that came to your eye that are useful for that? Ty in advance. | |
Guardian seems like the shoe-in.
Lots of blocking, life regen, armor. All very useful stuff if you're wanting to jump into melee range against anything. |

Well, I don't find anything there that supports me. As I play on life, I don't need the %es boost. Don't need conduit. I don't like the mechanic of having to use a warcry all 4 seconds. Does a ranger have to do that before clearing screens full of enemies within a second? Is the intenstion of GGG to slow melee even more down compared to an archer with mechanics like these? Life regen is 0,2% for each aura that I cast. As I gonna cast two auras, thats 0,4%, less than a noteable on the usual passive tree. That is negligible, wont even notice it on my lvl 99 templar. +1% physical damage reduction. Thats 25% of what an endurance charge does per aura that I cast. Makes 2%. My lvl 99 guy anyway has cap or about cap physical resistance. Its a waste. Other than that all values are extremely low and rather for a support class. I don't see anything else that I could use. Edit: I guess consecrated ground and nearby enemies deal 5% less elemental damage is the only way to go. But: If I wanted to lvl up from 99 to 100, I needed to join alot of map rotations. wouldn't start templar for rt melee. but if you really insist...i suppose u could do heirophant as well with illuminated devotion node.
with the 20% free pen on helm you can be running 100% lightning dmg static strike or 100% fire dmg molten strike on ur bor. And with ritual of awakening you can use the new ancestral totems for extra dmg or put up 2 free aura totems using reduced mana + ancient waystones. Also grab mind over matter near temp start along with some spirited response jewels to get more dmg reduction in, could become a decently tanky RT melee ele templar with decent dmg. Edit:

u bor's gonna give blind so you can evade around 50% of the time even without evasion. If go static strike, then take the lit pen route, if go molten strike take AoF + fire dmg, top jewel node above witch start for spirited response, rest all rare jewels with WeaponTypeAttackSpeed/MaxLife/AllRes/DmgForm Also Make use of WED from jewelry. What to use in my 6L chest then if I use main attack in 4l helmet?
Sure you don't use templar for rt life melee anymore. Back in the days it had alot of sword nodes close, which are now gone. I might try a life/es hybrid build with crit instead of rt, maybe. | |
