Ice Shot + Point Blank Mechanic

Hey again exiles, quick question;

I understand how point blank works with normal attacks, but do all of the secondary explosions get the effect of point blank as well? just the first explosion? none?

Thanks for the help, i'm sure this has been answered, but can't find the thread atm.
Pretty sure I heard in one of the podcasts dev (probably Rory) mentioning, that Ice Shot is an exception to the rule, in that all of the cone blast benefits from Point Blank equally (he called it "a railgun build" or some such). Unlike, for example, Rain of Arrows, where monsters in the same AoE would take different damage based on proximity to the source.

EDIT: to clarify, I mean, there's no damage variance inside the cone, but the cone damage itself is subject to PB more/less modifiers.

All Attack damage is subject to Point Blank, and the cone's penalty is based on how long the Projectile has been in flight (EDIT: distance travelled, not time travelled! Thanks Lud). The cone'll do way less damage at the edge of the screen.

@paperrat - it is more like that RoA/blast rain are the exceptions, because they are not technically projectiles at all. they cant pierce/chain/fork. its just an AoE attack with projectile tag.. Projectiles that travel normally and have AoE on impact have its whole AoE PB value equal to the projectile impact PB value (as you said)

@Viper - I know you know how it works, but your answer implies that projectile speed has something to do with PB ("how long the projectile has been in flight")

I seem to remember that it might have, the game doesn't actually measure the distance but calculates it by multiplying time spent flying and projectile speed. Some trivia like that, anyway.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

ice shot explosion will always do the 50% more damage from point blank regardless of how far it reaches

yeah just wanted to point out that Vipers answer allows false interpretation

@xMustard - sure, as long as the initial projectile impacts in "50% more" range

Based on Viper's response, there is no reason to use point blank/chinsol then. Why are there so many builds that use both?

Where did he say that?

Because you'll deal absurd damage at point-blank range? Seems pretty obvious to me. Sure, off-screening is less effective, but that's why it's a trade-off.

It also works well with Traps; you can keep distance and still get all that multiplicative Damage.
