So shotgunning was removed...

... from characters. But not from monsters? What kind of sense does that make? It leads to pretty random one-shot deaths. I always thought that "fires additional projectiles" was the anti-party mod, but it seems like it kills single players just as efficiently.

^Monsters can have overlapping AOE, just like players.

This becomes fairly apparent when your fighting the bats from mines that have this lightning based "pulse".

Which is an AOE and stacks with itself.

And then in maps, when you meet like a pack of 10+ freeze pulse bro's all going "pew" at you at the same time etc is also a fairly common "shotgun".(it's a shotgun in real time, but not in the sense how the community used it, lmp freeze pulse bro's still only deal damage with 1 pulse, but from different sources it still overlaps etc)

So yeah, "shotgunning" is removed, however "multi-hitting" from different sources is very much still possible.

I guess it was something like Fireball that hit you. Or some other projectile with an area of effect.

"Shotguning" was removed, that means you can't get hit by multiple projectiles that come from the same attack or cast. That's right.

What's still possible (and noted) is that you can get hit by the AoE from multiple projectiles from the same attack or cast multiple times.
AoE can shotgun such as fireballs.

Pretty sure I also get hit by multiple projectiles from mobs. But yes, the thing that literally oneshot me (no multiple hits, just lost 4.7k health from one frame to the next) was Avian Retechs. I guess I have to learn where those live and avoid multiproj on those maps.

Ran past a single lanternbearer... He had somehow camouflaged himself so well into the map that I didn't spot him before he took the shot. Down to a few hundred hp from 9k+ instantly.

"Overlapping AoE isn't Shotgun" is one of GGG's least classy moves.
Many of the shotgun sources were removed, but not all of them.

As before, if you don't run *MP on those skills, you're doing it wrong.
As before, if you face enemies that use those skills on *MP maps, you're gonna die.
Yea the shotgunning AOE damage can be pretty shady. The mobs that can do it have seriously increased AOE's as well. Also, with fireball the attack seems to stop right where all three can overlap the center - a player using the skill would have a lot of difficulty trying to replicate this and it's too consistent to be random. The worst of the worst is Tunneltrap.....his AOE is like 1/2 a screen and the shot can kill just about any character.

i never thought about it but that explains why those corpse eating meatball spitting wretches can oneshot you on gmp maps.
You also usually have more than one monster shooting at the same time. Individual monsters can't shotgun but when 8 of them all shoot t the exact same time and all hit you at the exact same time, it's just like shotgunning.
