Guide to level 100 from 92 for bad players

Best guide to level up: start from budget build (tanky, preferably all mods doable, with high clear speed), make gear almost perfect (3-8ex). Get some currency, respec to op build (i dont know much about sexy builds, i dont want to respec as i enjoy my pseudobudget wildstriker, but i believe respecing to sick builds is much better after getting some currency)
And I really agreeed on 92, my friend left on 92 and i also a bit slowed down)
Thanks for the guide. The tone of it is really nice, reminding us to be patient.

I was halfway through 90 today when I decided to fight added cold damage and fast Malformation Piety. I died twice, finally beat her, and then went into a raging death spiral at Atziri because I figured I had less to lose. Beat Atziri with a portal left, but no exp. Now I've got to rationalize to myself that I didn't really want to go past 90 anyway. =/ So yeah, don't do stupid things cause they will lead to more stupid things.
Softcore, solo self-found.

Randomly Chosen Lacerate of Butchering Ascendant in Keepers
I came to the forums a bit frustrated after being owned by T12 maps (Village Ruin and Arsenal) and found this thread. I find the comments and the OP helpful. Let me share some of my experiences and maybe learn a bit too from you guys:

Village Ruin was smooth sailing until the boss, of course, which is overtuned as hell (I'm melee). The dog's counter-arrack alone (Vengeance) deals like 80% of my HP which is kind of insane. I have a fast attacking, melee build which means his counter is triggered constantly. I found it impossible to do. But then again, there are plenty of posts everywhere in the PoE community advising against trying to kill Village Ruin bosses. I just wanted to try.

Then Arsenal was just me being dumb. I vaaled the map and got 150% IIQ, 24% Pack size and some IIR which I forgot, but obviously the mods were pretty deadly, specially 100% damage added as cold + 100% damage added as lightning.

I find that one of my deficiencies as a late game map runner is not being able to read map mods and what threats they offer to my character. Any advice on that? Specifically, it seems to me that damage added as elemental can be very irrelevant in lower tier maps, but as you get to 11 or 12 they start getting REALLY deadly and might deserve re-rolls.

Also I"ve learned that every build should have some HP recovering mechanism. The end game is just too difficult without automatically regaining some life as you attack. Include life leech on your spell if you're a caster, get life leech for physical attacks, or get life gain on hit if you can attack fast, just make sure you get some kind of life regaining.

If softcore, make another character that can kill all bosses so you can finish all maps and get better maps ;D

This is a poor guide.

It's just a bunch of semi-relevant anecdotes & no real strategies to help players level

To level from 92 to 100 you don't require a guide. It is an open secret that the top streamers always throws you in the face. All you need is a fast killing build and sufficient "psychological stamina" to run incessantly maps tier 8 to 10.

Yes, not any kind of strategy guide but more of an observation on not being dumb while playing higher level maps. Things like:
1. Don't play when tired
2. Avoid dangerous situations
3. Be prepared for mindless 8-10 tier maps forever playing
4. Be prepared to be a map slaver, etc.

These are all "Duh!" statements and nothing new or useful for rest of the PoE masses that really could benefit from players with level 100 builds wisdom. To just state the obvious is no help.

What this all comes done to is we must play for 1000s of hours and not ever die. Wow, what a concept! To me it just proves that GGG has failed to provide a real endgame in PoE. Also proves that the one-shot crit damage of death is devs definition of "hardcore". Some players have stated that desync and lagging added to making PoE more hardcore. Truly weird what lengths players will go to to convince themselves that game flaws are actually a good thing,

Nice try though.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

I dont have this kind of stamina:
1. playing the same character over and over again, always the same maps
2. having multiple high level characters until some changes in the game mechanics screwing 3 of 4
3. playing awake? usually I come home, wasted my "good times" for work.
4. maps drops

It is hard for me to keep up the will to get beyond 92.
Maybe when I have have 10 characters lvl 92 I will start grinding to 93. :D

This!

Don't really get the idea behind soft restricting people from reaching level 100.

false

actually just about everything in the OP is wrong and it seems like there are a lot of misconceptions in this thread

There is clearly such builds though. Vaal Spark, CoC Discharge, Cospri's Discharge, etc. etc. this builds are literally the fastest and safest to reach 100. Most people who reach 100 use them.

Given 92 is the average level most players stop at, to go level other characters because the game punishes you harshly for death, stupidity and carelessness .

The fact that you have gotten to 92 it means you have all the basics down and know how to level , what separates the elite from the bad players in the journey to 100 is the mindset and skill level and knowing and accepting how to pace yourself...

I can summarize the whole wall of text together in 5 sentences!
1.) If you hate doing the same thing over and over again you should stop at about lvl. 92 because after that point it becomes mindnumbingly boring!
2.) Second step is to get yourself a totem char - flametotem or ancestral warchief or even rightrous fire will work.
3.) Try to get as much life and regen as you can get (yes, for a "king of boredom" char life is better than es)
4.) Only run very straight foreward (shaped strand or gorge) chiseled blue maps with either more magic or more rare mobs
5.) Only loot currency >=fusings and maps (of course useful uniques too - about one every 6 month lol). Sell the maps and use the currency to buy more shaped strand or gorge maps - rinse and repeat

There is no "what separates the elite from the bad players" within this journey. It's just a matter of how willing to do the same shit over and over again are you. Nothing more, that's the whole deal! I bet I could teach it to someone's grandma that has never played a computer game before within one day!
