"Error opening file:" Game won't open?

Couldn't find a support/troubleshooting forum so posting this here..
I recently got a beta invite and downloaded the game, played for 10 mins then my computer crashed and restarted, now when I click the game, it instantly gets an "exception" window popup that says "Error Opening file: " And doesn't give any other information. I tried the repair and that didn't work. How do I fix this? | |

I have this "The Windows Installer Service could not be access" problem.
Basically I think it's my own mistake and not the devs. You can find me on the Quakenet if you use logical reasoning.

Try reinstalling the game.

Re downloaded and installed game from scratch which fixed the problem.
Would have liked to have been able to fix it without wasting 3gb of internet cap but oh well. | |

For anyone getting the "Error opening file" or similar errors (especially if your computer crashed/froze while playing), it is highly likely your packfile was corrupted.
You will need to delete Content.ggpk, inside the Path of Exile install directory. You will then have to redownload all the content. Once it works again, I recommend making a backup of this file that you can restore to save yourself several gigs of bandwidth and time. Code warrior

Protip, after the first download, copy the Content.ggpk file out of the path of exile directory. That way if it screws up, you can copy it back and save yourself a lot of bandwidth/time.
