[2.1] Ren's Archranger ♥ Tornado/Bow Blender ♥ 260-430k DPS ♥ MF ♥ Uber ♥
![]() Disclaimer: This guide is still under construction, more information and videos will be added. Hey everyone, I'm Ren and I am about to show you how to master archery. Prepare yourself as you will kite all content found in Wraeclast. The gear is only half the battle, the rest is all you. Pros:
Cons:
What are the aspects of the build? The purpose of this build is use a variety of bow skills to deal very high damage and take little to no damage in return by keeping ourselves far away. In order to clear maps very quickly and efficiently we use bow skills that vary from Tornado Shot, Split Arrow, Lightning Arrow, to Ice Shot and Greater Multiple Projectiles or Rain of Arrows with Increased Area of Effect and other damaging support gems. Along with the use of Herald of Ash to increase clear from overkill critical strikes. Single Target Option: When it comes to boss fights, we use our single target Puncture supported by Trap and many other high damaging support gems like Point Blank and Slower Projectiles without any downsides since the attack is no longer considered a projectile. This deals great initial damage with damage over time that increases drastically as the target moves. Full skill gem links will be provided further in the guide. How do we stay alive? ![]() No build is useful if you are dead, in order to survive we keep our distance from our targets and use the "kiting" mechanic to avoid incoming damage. In the unfortunate scenario where we do get hit, we rely on evasion from gear and Acrobatics to possibly avoid the damage. Through the use of the King of the Hill we can consistently knock back the target on critical strikes, which is great at avoiding all incoming melee damage. What is "Kiting"? ![]() Kiting is when you grab a mob's attention and keep walking away from it which pulls it along, like a kite. In-between running away from the mobs, you take very short stutters in which you attack your target. This method allows you to deal damage and keep yourself at a safe distance from your target. ![]() What bow skill should you use? Tornado Shot is an excellent multi-purpose choice because not only does it have fast clear, but it also does great single target damage. The projectiles shot pierce through everything until they reach there destination where the arrows split in a tornado-like fashion. Meaning with Greater Multiple Projectiles, the damage dealt could be up to six times the tooltip number. This skill rewards good aim and increases single target damage drastically combined with Puncture Traps. Ice Shot is a powerful choice especially in hardcore leagues or when leveling. Although Ice Shot does even more damage than Lightning Arrow, it does not clear as fast since it doesn't chain to apply multiple hits of damage. Ice Shot leaves behind a lot of chilled ground, this makes for very safe game-play and still has high clear speed. Due to the lack of single target the skill provides Puncture Trap will be the majority of our damage during boss fights. Lightning Arrow is a great choice for clearing maps because of it's fast projectiles that each hit multiple enemies around the initial target, combined with our critical strikes this skill gem allows us to carry full parties in end game maps as smooth as a knife through butter. Although, Lightning Arrow lacks in single target due to it's design - meaning Puncture Trap will be the majority of our damage during boss fights. If you like very wide area coverage Split Arrow could be for you, as it can fire up to 8 projectiles that each chain and shoot towards nearby enemies. This skill is great for brainless attacking, and is a useful when using magic find on maps. Rain of Arrows is another skill option with a very fun and unique play style, you fire arrows up in the air that strike your target location after a very short delay. This skill is considered an area of effect and not a projectile, meaning the replacement of Greater Multiple Projectiles with Increased Area of Effect to maintain a larger coverage. Since the arrows have a small delay before they fall, you get some free time to run away in-between attacks quite easily - making it effective for kiting bosses. Very similar to Rain of Arrows, the skill Blast Rain shares the same mechanic. You fire burning arrows that strike your target location after a very short delay. Again, this skill is considered an area of effect and not a projectile, meaning the replacement of Greater Multiple Projectiles with Increased Area of Effect to maintain a larger coverage. This skill can also prove itself deadly in single target situations. Gear:
My Gear
The bow is the most important item in the build, your bow is the basis for everything as all damage scales from your bow. As expected, the higher damage per second on your weapon - the better. When gearing towards a strong Rare Bow, it is important to look for the following stats:
Your quiver is a great opportunity to gain more damage as it can have critical strike multiplier which is the greatest boost to your tooltip, btut it is also important to keep your critical strike chance as high as possible to ensure that damage is consistent. When gearing towards a strong Rare Quiver, it is important to look for the following stats:
Your amulet is another great opportunity to gain more damage similar to your quiver due to the increased critical strike multiplier stat. Although, as on every piece of rare equipment - focusing on life is very crucial in order to survive in end-game maps. When gearing towards a strong Rare Amulet, it is important to look for the following stats:
Rings are a good opportunity to gain both damage and accuracy as well as cap resistances, having over 90% chance to hit is important to ensure you are consistently dealing damage. In this case, try aiming toward Diamond Rings to keep your critical strike chance as high as possible. When gearing towards strong Rare Rings, it is important to look for the following stats:
Overall your belt is a chance to make up for defensive stats, that is why it is important for the base to be a Rustic Sash as the increased physical damage scales very well. Increased elemental damage with weapons is also a decent bonus if you can get it on your belt. When gearing towards strong Rare Belt, it is important to look for the following stats:
Body armor is your chance to focus purely on defensive stats. It is very beneficial when your body armor is evasion based since that is our main defensive mechanic. When gearing towards strong Rare Body Armor, it is important to look for the following stats:
Yours boots is yet another chance to focus purely on defensive stats. It is very crucial that your boots have a high increased movement speed as this will help you kite and keep yourself at a safe distance. When gearing towards strong Rare Boots, it is important to look for the following stats:
Unique Items: Rat's Nest is the best-in-slot helmet for our build. It provides us with high attack speed, very high increased critical strike chance, decent evasion rating, and movement speed. Which all benefits our build so much, it's almost too good to be true. Another benefit is the reduced character size, which may also reduce our character hit-box. The only downside to this unique is the lack of life and resistances. The famous and beloved Atziri's Acuity is an amazing choice of gloves for our build, not only does it give us instant life and mana leech on critical strikes allowing us to drop Vaal Pact - but it also has amazing stats. A very high amount of armor, which although is not needed for our build still slightly helps. As well as containing increased critical strike chance, intelligence to help with intelligence based gems, and of course life which is great to have - especially on a unique item. Maligaro's Virtuosity is a great alternative to Atziri's Acuity. These gloves give a good amount of dexterity, decent attack speed, and actually provides more damage than Atziri's Acuity due to more critical strike chance and multiplier. Although, without Atziri's Acuity you are required to pick up Vaal Pact on the passive tree. Drillneck is quite a strong quiver option when paired with Pierce linked with your main skill. Although, a rare quiver with critical strike chance and multiplier is usually stronger. The physical damage variant of the Doryani's Invitation is a strong belt for our build. With high increased physical damage, three elemental resistances, as well as physical life leech which is a great bonus. -Missing Link- The Retch is another great and unique belt option. As it provides high life, cold resistance, life leech, damage from life leech mechanic, and specific benefits during flask effects. -Missing Link- When putting together this build on a budget Lioneye's Glare is a great option. This bow provides high physical damage, and very high attack speed. The Hit's Can't Be Evaded mod allows us to ignore accuracy on gear, making our jewelry quite cheaper. The downside to this bow is the low base critical strike chance compared to a Rare Harbinger Bow. Brinerot Whalers is a good way to boost your damage by quite a bit. These boots increase your physical damage and projectile damage through large multipliers, with lightning resist and movement speed they can be a solid option. The downsides to these is that they force you to cap your resistances through other means, and do not have life on them. Taste of Hate is a flask that you just can't miss out on when playing a physical scaling build. This flask not only gives you a very high damage buff, but allows you to mitigate some physical damage spikes as cold damage. The physical to cold damage taken conversion helps greatly as your cold resistance will be capped while physical reduction won't even be close to capped. Atziri's Promise is yet another flask that will give you a great damage buff, this buff in specific is chaos damage which most mobs are not resistant to. Along with the damage, the flask grants life leech from the granted damage which is always helpful. Magic Find Option:

![]() Bandits:
Jewels: Jewels are a great opportunity for us to pick up extra damage, missing attributes or resistances, and more life. Mana leech on a single jewel is enough to sustain mana with a strong bow and Atziri's Acuity. With a lesser bow and Vaal Pact an additional mana node or mana jewel might be required. Passive Trees: Level 95 - Ranger ♥ Atziri's Acuity ♥ Level 95 - Ranger ♥ Vaal Pact ♥ Level 95 - Shadow ♥ Atziri's Acuity ♥ Level 95 - Shadow ♥ Vaal Pact ♥ Level 95 - Scion ♥ Atziri's Acuity ♥ Level 95 - Scion ♥ Vaal Pact ♥ I would like to give a special thank you to my friends KingSeagoe and Ayvi, who both helped and advised me whenever I needed assistance. Hey, Thanks for the build, I;ve been enjoying it coming back from an 3 month PoE break..
Question; since I've got no health regen (vaal pact) keeping yourself alive while looking for mobs can be a bit unresting, how do you handle this? with health pots? It's do-able but was wondering If I'm missing some smart way to counter this. |

" No problem, I'm glad you enjoy it! So without Atziri's Acuities you will degen as you walk around as you stated, the only thing you can do is use a life flask. Try using a flask that lasts for a long time, that way you can keep yourself from degening as you search for more mobs. Another thing you can do is remove Blood Rage from it's socket and then place it back in - can be a bit annoying, but prevents unwanted degen. Sincerely,
