Passive Tree Progession Overlay / Stats
Greets
I'm loving the passive tree as it stands, but there are two things that I think could substantially improve its functionality. Apologies if this has been covered before; a quick search didn't yield anything like this. 1. A progression overlay. Essentially what this would do is allow you to paste a URL from the passive calculator on the GGG site into your tree in the game, and it will show you all of the talents you have selected for that build. Perhaps a faint blue line could connect every relevant talent that you have yet to take in-game, and implementing an ingame calculator would be great as well. 2. Stat breakdown. I'm sure this one really has been talked to death, but what the passive tree is really missing is a breakdown of your overall gains (and penalties) on that screen. Yes, you can look at your stat sheet on the character info page, but that gives you a breakdown of everything including your base stats and armor / weapon bonuses. This would show you only what effects your passives are having on your stats. That's basically it. Thoughts? Ups? Flames? This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

" I also think it would be great for newer players if they gave players a "default build" for types of characters, maybe two or three default builds that would get them out of the gate and let them tweak from there. I know my wife hasn't done much with playing in part because of the theorycrafting required to get off the ground. I know there are forums and other tools to help the players out there, but it is very easy to create a gimped build and helping players along would certainly help the newer players quite a bit. |

" One of the things I often hear from people who are looking at PoE for the first time is "WOW LOOK AT THAT SKILL TREE!" It's one of PoE's most impressive features but also one of its most daunting, and like D2's skill system before it, it's pretty easy to screw up. So I agree with you that there could certainly be more to ease newer players into understanding what makes the passive tree tick and how to use it more effectively. In my mind, theorycrafting new builds and watching them flourish in game is half the fun that comes out of a game like this. I think it's important that newbies are able to get to the point where they're comfortable doing that. The question is of course which builds do you include in something like that? Do you only give them safer, more tanky and "easy" builds, or do you throw some more eclectic ones into the mix as well? |

" I came to the forum just to post this, and found your thread. It would be so useful. I actually was thinking about the Passive Skill Tree, where I think it would be even more useful, because you could actually comapre variious builds' bonuses. And, primarily, know what you're overdoing, and what you're leaving behing. But having that in-game would be nice too. --- As a side note: This site knows the character i'm currently playing. Is there a way to see the passive skill tree for the current character/my other characters? It would be great for planning future progress. And it would be even better if i could see my plannings in-game. foma |
