Trying to get my Curse on Hit + Herald of Ice to work.
|
Hello everyone, I'm still pretty new to PoE and still learning the basics and fundamentals of the game and one thing has boggled me, I have been trying to get Curse on hit + Herald of Ice + Poachers Mark to work. Here is my links
I was told that the shatter effect of Herald of Ice would proc the curse sense it actually does a "hit" but that's not the case for me. I have ran the dried lake with the setup for about six runs and have never seen the proc of the curse or gained a frenzy charge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

" kinda off topic, kinda on topic... just use Blood Rage :P if you're physical based, then the phys leech will do you some good :) it looks to me that the CoH doesnt work, which is strange coz, it should, as you said... so, for now, just use blood rage :) Twitch: twitch.tv/slayertip

Thanks for the speedy reply, Blood Rage is on my list to fit-in-somewhere-gems so I guess I will just ditch the hole CoH for now and concentrate on that, thanks again for the speedy reply, no doubt saved me currency testing a bunch of junk out.

Enemies shatter when you kill them when frozen. You're not killing frozen enemies. You're likely rarely even freezing them unless you're doing more cold damage than just ehat Herald of Ice gives you. You also need to crit or have chance to freeze in addition to enough cold damage.

I'm playing a crit reave build ( 47% crit chance with super fast attack speed when buffed) and the entire screen shatters, like a popsicle light show but maybe they aren't being frozen, just chilled? Still learning the basic's so I have no idea.

You may be freezing...I don't know. All you showed was a weapon. How much cold damage does your reave show on the character sheet offense tab? If the whole screen is dying at once, there isn't anybody getting hit with the herald. Can you test with herald of lightning and run to the next mob to see if they get cursed by the lightning bolts?

test it with single target skill
btw craft local crit instead of crit multi IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Dec 30, 2015, 1:20:59 PM

Thanks for the responses, I don't believe I was actually freezing the enemies because it worked fine with Herald of Thunder when the bolts would hit enemies. I did pick up blood rage for my frenzy needs tho.
Hey Ludvator, do you mean crit % instead of crit multi? Not sure what local crit means. |

Herald of Ice does work for coh. The problems with using it are numerous, though.
You need to kill frozen monsters. Other monsters need to not only still be alive but also be close enough to the dead-frozen monster to be "hit" by the herald of ice. It would work better with a single target attack that had splash damage, because the monsters close by would take less damage than the single target. CoH works even better (as suggested above) with herald of thunder, assuming you shock consistently. I ran a srs summoner build that used CoH with ball lightening and elemental equilibrium, last league (boxsalesman's build) and it worked really well. Hegemony ran a crit witch that used CoH with herald of ice, recently. He said he had trouble getting it to work consistently but eventually managed it. You probably can too but maybe not with reave. Where there's one they're bound to divide it right in two.

" I believe this was my problem because the shatter effect was going off but it seemed to be causing a catch 22, I was blowing up every frozen mob leaving no mob for the skill to target. It was just a temporary idea to gain frenzy charges with what little I had, blood rage has proven to be very nice. |
