Area is a Maze Map.

Hey,

I saw kripp trying to roll 'area is a maze' on a map before regaling it.
Is there anything special about 'area is a maze', or is it just because its easier to survive there given that he plays in HC?

EDIT: I see on his stream that the area is very large, could this be due to the 'area is a maze' affix?

Any answers would be appreciated! :)

Would like to know that either ;)

lately i did Vaal Pyramid as Maze but it was - well a Vaal Paramid 3 Floors + the Boss. I guess it's just bigger. But then again how is it different from "larger area"?

Wiki sais:
A maze is a tour puzzle in the form of a complex branching passage through which the solver must find a route. In everyday speech, both maze and labyrinth denote a complex and confusing series of pathways, but technically the maze is distinguished from the labyrinth, as the labyrinth has a single through-route with twists and turns but without branches, and is not designed to be as difficult to navigate.[1] The pathways and walls in a maze or labyrinth are fixed (pre-determined) – puzzles where the walls and paths can change during the game are categorised as tour puzzles. The Cretan labyrinth is the oldest known maze
Maze mostly just makes the maps larger, yes (more narrow corridors that don't lead to the next level -> mazelike effect). It doesn't make the map more difficult per se, since it's just more of the same monsters.

It makes it larger and a bit more complicated. In effect it's the same as Larger Area, but the two mods are mutually exclusive; Larger Area only applies to open maps, Maze only applies to dungeon maps.
Maze is the best mod to get on an indoor map because it increases the the size a lot & therefore number of monsters on it. More monster = more chance of getting map drops & more xp. Almost all high level map runners will do this with there indoor maps then regal to get some more quantity on it. It gives consistently more map drops than just aiming for high quantity alone.

This is how maps are generated. 'Area is a Maze' probably increases the difficulty of the easiest route through the map.

Incidentally, watch the whole thing. It's interesting.

Not necessarily true anymore.

Although I do find it funny Kripp is trying so hard to learn how to roll maps. If you regal it, you're just gonna end up with a low IIQ. Thus, a low chance for maps to drop.

Don't worry Kripp, you'll figure it out one day.
