[2.1] Toxic Blade Trapper by Rawpwnzl

I made this build because i wanted to do something with the newly added Poison and Bladefall gems, it turned out better than expected.

There are 2 slightly different possible skilltrees:

One with blast cascade and doom cast: (this is my current one)



The other one without blast cascade and doom cast but with 3 more jewel sockets:



Bandits: Kill, Kill, Kill (ofcourse you can choose what ever you want but i prefer skill
points)

The gear:

I aimed for a 80% global crit base with spell dmg, some added dmg to spells, spell crit and crit multipler.


Here i needed the eva/es base + life to make use of Eldritch Battery and Acrobatics, since traps arent cheap in manacosts I had to find a way to deal with those 100 mana per trap.


This is actually the first time i use this shield. But it works pretty good, it provides a lvl 20 bear trap (so you get a 4l lvl 20 bear trap in a 3 link item). Also it provides around 50 % increased damage for this build and 25 % chance to gain a power charge on trap thrown.

This means u get power charges without hitting an enemy, even in your hideout. Another thing to note: those 25 % chance work for every multi trap -> 1 multi trap can give you up to 3 power charges.


Another great item for trappers. Its another 5l for 1 chaos (dont underestimate trap throwing speed).


Ming's heart is pretty much optional. It sacrifices life and es for a great damage boost.


I use a rustic sash to make use of the 2x% phys damage and got one with oper suffix to master craft 20 % trap damage on it.


This helmet is just for es (EB) life and resists.

Gloves, the other ring got resists and life. Since I use 3 uniques without resists it can be tough to cap them but it possible even without big investment (you may cant use mings heart in the beginning), no worries.


I chose this one for damage and strength. (this build only has 44 base strength)

I highly suggest to get atleast a 5l chest (or better of course).

Bear trap in Jaws of Agony: Bear trap + trap and mine damage + poison + added chaos damage

Bladefall: Bladefall + trap + multitrap + trap and mine damage + poison (6l added chaos)

Etheral Knifes in Deerstalker: Ek + multitrap + trap and mine damage + poison

the ek trap: multiple trap gems of the same kind share the same cooldown (they changed it when ppls were running 3 firetraps at once). ek trap is just a filler to not run out of traps to fast, bladefall trap alone wouldnt be enough traps



Damage values:

I am currently lvl 87.

Bear Trap tooltip is at 38642 average damage per use

Bladefall Trap tooltip is at 15663 average damage per use

EK Trap Tooltip is at 13588 average damage per use

Why added chaos damage on the shield instead of increased duration? Increasing the poison duration should give you more damage and it roots things for longer.
Bear Trap has 200% dmg effectiveness which gives added chaos a huge dmg boost. If you watch the videos stuff doesn't seem to stay alive long enough for increased duration to make sense at all.
I had the same idea this league but found EK to be a bit of a let down in terms of a second sort of trapped AOE skill. However, I didn't bother with crit because I didn't think i'd have the currency.

Nice tech with the shield. I totally disregarded it because I didn't think it actually let you link support gems to the lvl 20 bear trap.

Anyway, I came across a level 19 magma orb and found it to be surprisingly good with The Consuming Dark. It also has the added benefit of converting Herald of Ash to additional chaos damage for your phyisical spells.

And this is my build at lvl 80 currently, was setting up the framework to transition into crit eventually. Ideally I'd go into EB but I don't really have the sort of gear you'd need to support the high mana cost of traps at the moment.

On a final note, I think hasty reconstruction is an awesome addition to the trap arsenal. It just makes everything feel a bit smoother than before.

40 life +, 16% physical damage, +1 power charge?
