Desecrate Spell Confused on Ussage

Just got the Desecrate skill gem. When I use it, dead bodies appear on the ground, but then disappear. I see no zombies. Tried this both when not attacked and attacked. What am I doing wrong?

You will have to use "Raise Zombie" Gems to get them. This is just to give you corpses without having to kill mobs. (Usefull in Boss fights without adds).

I don't think this is described in the guides, unless I missed something.

Desecrate is used by summoner to get zombies and to raise specters from certain areas... players have used it in maps to see what mobs r in the area.. but that was when devourers were really tough for some builds...the skill itself creates a cloud of choas damage and corpses appear on the ground..then a summoner could do one of the offering skills or detonate them...or devouring totem if needed..or raise some new fresh zombies. It really has been a utility skill...but with the new chaos changes may be it could do more. .
