i don't take any Lightning nodes on the tree but i suppose you meant Lightning support gems

If you're wandering about that, it's fairly simple, just by very nature of elemental builds, Lightning damage is the highest damage you will deal

Flat Lightning damage rolls on weapon and Wrath aura give you such a high source of Lightning damage already that it's only natural you would further improve on it with Lightning Penetration and Added Lightning damage

High Lightning damage also enables you to shock more consistently and shock is a More multiplier

Going to try this out when (not if :p) my FNM Shadow rips. I've loved the concept of Frost Blades ever since it came out.

lvl 71 right now with the build, and loving the damage it can do, but I'm feeling pretty weak defensively. hmmm wondering if there's anyway of making the build more defensive.

unfortunately this isn't one of the tankiest builds around, but just getting a Taste of Hate goes a long way, you also probably didn't pick up most of the life nodes yet, so maybe focus on that for now

build doesn't lack damage for sure and in retrospective i probably should have taken more life nodes earlier

Lightning coil is also a viable option, but will be hard to fit with Maligaro's and Rat's nest, especially since you lose so much life by dropping belly

Imo if you choose Lightning coil, you should definitely either drop Rat's nest and get a dual res + accuracy helm or drop the Maligaro's and get dual res + accuracy/attack speed gloves, taking duelist evasion + all res nodes is also not a sing if you choose that route, you get 15% all res and a lot of evasion for only 2 nodes
