Bow close combat melee skills!

I started a new archer build recently and I was thinking a lot about this one annoying thing in PoE. Whenever something gets close to you, and you are an archer, it is so annoying to shoot it. Sometimes other mobs get in the way or you don't want to get damaged too much, or just the fact that you are shooting something that stands less than 1 meter in front of you...
So I thought, would bow-based melee skills be a good thing in the game? Personally, I think that it would be a lot more fun than just shooting whatever is very close to you.
Right now there are builds like bow/trap bow/totem etc. but a bow/melee build would also be amazing.
Yeah, yeah, we do have the option to switch weapon sets but that is also slightly annoying, and building a character based on that idea is not too good. Besides, it takes time to switch the weapons and the "Archer" theme just kinda goes invisible at that moment.
Hitting something with your bow at close range, some martial arts kind of skills would be a real good addition in my opinion. Maybe even a monk type of build would be possible.
It's just a suggestion, so don't go ape shit on me if you can xD

How would you design a bow melee skill? What would you use to hit? Unless you're called Legolas, it doesn't make much sense imho.

This is what happens when you don't kill stuff before it reaches you ;), and yes, it can be annoying, especially with those very fast undying monsters. This is why there's so much move speed in the ranger area. We also have blink arrow to get far away quickly.

Maybe you can use Phase Run linked to cwdt (must be linked last) to out run enemies that come to you. Also, the ranger raider ascendancy class will provide some new ways to use Phase run.

When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch?
If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch.
Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart...
Well there's a melee range bow skill coming out in 2.1, Shrapnel Shot, nothing monk like, but we do have Facebreaker, a pair of unique gloves. Nothing like punching mobs to death.

2.1 Announcement here in case you missed it some how. 2.1 is coming out in less than 6 days.

Guessing you're not a fan of The Arrow. The bow is a blunt object after all. :P
Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.
Yeah, a piece of wood which you'd rather not hit hard against an armor or even worse, a sword :p.

Well don't buy the Wal-mart bows.

Yeah lol I actually came up with this while watching The Arrow, well I just think it would be cooler and more interesting to fight at close range as an archer sometimes than running away to just pick off mobs again and again. Whatever floats ur boat tho I guess :)
Besides, it wouldnt hurt GGG to add some skills like this, I mean, they dont lose anything, they would only eventually gain since some people might be more interested in those types of skills.

You mentioned armour as well, yeah that's a good point, but you know, you are an archer after all and arrows pierce through the armour that enemies use. Maybe if the close combat melee bow skills were useless against those types of enemies, you might run back a little and then shoot them, just like you said. Diversity, see what I mean? - That is what PoE lacks in some places (I don't mean it is not diverse at all, just saying). Especially in ranger builds.
